Solano Symphony Orchestra

Vacaville, CA, United States

The Solano Symphony Orchestra is a distinguished musical institution that has been enriching the cultural landscape since its establishment in 1987. The orchestra's primary aim is to deliver the highest quality of live symphony music for the enjoyment and education of the public, as well as to promote the arts within the community. Composed of talented local musicians, the Solano Symphony Orchestra has built a reputation for sharing their passion for music and contributing their expertise to support community engagement. Under the leadership of Maestro Semyon Lohss, who assumed the role of Music Director and Conductor during the 1992-1993 season, the orchestra has soared to new heights of musical excellence. Maestro Lohss, an honors graduate from the Leningrad State Conservatory with Masters of Music Degrees in both Symphony and Opera Conducting and Choral Conducting, brought with him a wealth of experience in orchestral, opera, and choral conducting. His tenure with the Solano Symphony Orchestra has been marked by a commitment to artistic quality and innovation. The Solano Symphony Orchestra's concert season typically includes five performances, showcasing a diverse repertoire that spans classical and pops music genres. The orchestra places a strong emphasis on youth engagement, working to nurture and exhibit the musical talents of young individuals in the community. This commitment to education and outreach is a cornerstone of the orchestra's mission. The orchestra's Concert Master, Maxim Baluyev, is a prominent figure in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene. An alumnus of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Baluyev has performed as a soloist with various orchestras and is a founding member of the String Trio Maxim. His dedication to music education is evident through his teaching of violin and viola both at his home studio and at Gordon's Music & Sound in Fairfield, CA. The Solano Symphony Orchestra is governed by a Board of Directors, which consists of up to 17 members serving three-year terms. These individuals are instrumental in advancing the orchestra's mission through strategic planning, financial oversight, community relations, and fundraising efforts. The Board works collaboratively in committees and also welcomes volunteers to assist with various activities, including event support, youth outreach, and fundraising initiatives. The Solano Symphony Orchestra rehearses from September through the concert season, with rehearsals typically held on designated Monday and Thursday evenings before each performance. Musicians interested in joining the orchestra are encouraged to schedule an audition through the musician's page or by contacting the Orchestra Manager. With a mission to entertain, enrich, and contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of the communities it serves, the Solano Symphony Orchestra continues to be a beacon of artistic excellence and community involvement. The organization invites feedback and participation from the public, reflecting its dedication to inclusivity and the shared experience of music.
