KASA Quartet, First Prize winner of the 2017 Coltman Chamber Music Competition, was founded in the summer of 2016 by Andy Liang, Aaron Schwartz, Stephanie Price-Wong and Kyle Price. KASA utilizes its fluency in multiple styles to curate fresh, innovative, genre-defying performances that harken the classical standard repertoire and fuse it with favorites of the jazz, musical theater, folk and pop standards. The quartet takes pride in creating and interpreting original arrangements and transcriptions of works by Jacob Collier, Marvin Hamlisch, George Gershwin among others. The ensemble has taught and performed as featured artists for the Ravinia Festival, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Austin Chamber Music Center, Second City Chamber Series, Miami Music Project, and Chamber Music Connection in addition to holding a residency each summer at the Caroga Lake Music Festival since its inception. KASA’s shared passion for bringing multiple genres together for their programming has attracted various audiences and presenters from different musical interests together for memorable performances and projects. KASA released its debut album in 2022, Forever Wild, Vol. 1 with each track featuring guest collaborations spanning a wide array of genres and styles.

Praised for “…sparkling, taut performances” (New York Times), the Harlem Chamber Players are a collective of professional classical musicians dedicated to bringing high-caliber, affordable, accessible live classical music to people in the Harlem community and beyond. They have performed at Riverside Church, Apollo Theater, Merkin Concert Hall, The Greene Space at WNYC/WQXR, MET Museum, Brooklyn Public Library, Caramoor Festival, and Carnegie Hall.

In a program perfect for the weekend of our nation’s 250th anniversary, Dvořák’s evergreen “American” Quartet, with its echoing of American musical traditions, is performed here with two accessible yet overlooked quartet masterworks of American composers. Florence Price was a musical heroine of the Chicago Black Renaissance of the 1920s, while George Walker’s 1946 quartet has long been famous for its elegiac slow movement, often referred to as a counterpart to Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings. The Harlem Chamber Players give us a rare opportunity to hear the entire work complete.

Camille Saint-Saëns: Le carnaval des animaux (The Carnival of the Animals)

The Carnival of the Animals, the humorous musical suite for children by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, performed live accompanied by a crankie and artistic puppetry, each followed by an instrument petting zoo.

Pianist and composer Isaiah J. Thompson, a native of West Orange, New Jersey, began his musical studies at an early age with Alla Epelbaum at The Calderone School of Music and Bob Mikula. He later enrolled in Jazz House Kids and NJPAC’s Jazz for Teens before attending The Juilliard School, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He later pursued further education in Christian Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary.

Eytan Schillinger-Hyman is an accomplished bassist and composer based in New York City, renowned for his proficiency on both upright and electric bass. Eytan is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School, with a Master’s degree in Jazz Bass Performance, where he studied under the mentorship of jazz virtuosos Gerald Cannon, Ron Carter, Ben Wolfe, Donald Vega and Billy Drummond. With a vibrant career that spans the jazz scenes of New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, Eytan has performed at renowned venues and festivals including BlueNote NYC, Dizzy’s Jazz at Lincoln Center, SFJAZZ, The Anthem DC (opening for Lalah Hathaway), Smalls, The Jazz Cruise, and The Monterey Jazz Festival, among many others. He plays for Matthew Whitaker and Langston Hughes II and has performed with acclaimed musicians such as Quincy Phillips, Mike King, Christopher McBride, Lawrence Fields and more. He also holds dual degrees in Jazz Bass Performance and Sociology from Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he studied and collaborated with jazz legends such as Billy Hart, Gary Bartz, and Eddie Henderson.

David Alvarez III is a jazz drummer, composer, arranger, and educator. Introduced to the drum set at age five, he developed his foundation playing in church. His formal jazz education began at age nine in Michigan through The Arts League of Michigan summer program. For eight years, he was an integral part of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Civic Youth Ensemble jazz program, where professors and students from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University mentored him.

Hailed by The New York Times at its Carnegie Hall debut as “invariably energetic and finely burnished… playing with earthy vigor,” the Grammy Award-winning Catalyst Quartet was founded by the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Organization in 2010. The ensemble  believes in the unity that can be achieved through music and imagine their programs and projects with this in mind, redefining and reimagining the classical music experience.

Simon’s Dream represents a rare chance to hear the eclectic and uplifting music of the seminal British instrumental group Penguin Cafe Orchestra, played live by a band which includes members of the original ensemble. Jennifer Maidman and Annie Whitehead were both long standing members of the original group and collaborated extensively with its late founder Simon Jeffes. Simon started the band after a series of unusual dreams and visions about a possible dystopian future and it’s antidote, a magical cafe where a special kind of music would be played which would open hearts, connect souls, and lift spirits. Joining Jennifer and Annie on stage will be some of the Hudson Valley’s finest musicians : Scott Petito, Jerry Marotta, Liam Singer and Jonathan Talbot.

Other accolades include second prize and special prizes for Best Mazurka and Best Polonaise at the 2020 U.S. National Chopin Competition, first prize at the 2016 Boston Symphony Concerto Competition, second prize and the Mozart and Chopin special prizes at the 2018 Dublin International Piano Competition, second prize at the 2016 Thomas and Evon Cooper International Competition, and scholarships from the U.S Chopin Foundation and Young Arts Foundation.

With playing described as "sincere, communicative, and intelligent", "drop-dead gorgeous", and even "the greatest thing since sliced bread" (Gramophone), Johnson's competition laurels include being a finalist in the 2025 Van Cliburn International Competition (the first Canadian in history to do so), the silver laureate of the 2025 Honens International Competition, the first prize winner of the 2025 Dublin International Competition, and the silver medalist in the 2024 Gina Bachauer International Competition. He is a recipient of the CAG Louis and Susan Meisel Prize.

Widely recognized as one of the leading collaborative pianists of the day, Brian Zeger has performed with many of the world’s greatest singers including Marilyn Horne, Deborah Voigt, Anna Netrebko, Susan Graham, René Pape, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Frederica von Stade, Piotr Beczala, Bryn Terfel, Joyce DiDonato, Denyce Graves, and Adrianne Pieczonka in an extensive concert career that has taken him to the premiere concert halls throughout the United States and abroad.

With a career spanning three decades, the multiple GRAMMY® Award-winning Pacifica Quartet has achieved international recognition as one of the finest chamber ensembles performing today. Known for delivering performances that are “engrossing, characterful … with a luminescent tranquillity [and] spine-tingling intensity” (The New York Times), the Quartet is celebrated for its virtuosity, exuberant performance style, and fearless repertory choices. Its sound, distinguished by “warmth of phrasing, dynamic control and superbly coordinated ensemble balance” (Gramophone Magazine), has solidified the ensemble as one of the most essential voices in American chamber music.

Pacifica Quartet

Praised by the American Prize for their “careful choices, elegant phrasing and beauty of sound virtually always,” The Luminae Trio, based in New York City, performs lesser-known music of the past and present alongside beloved classics. The group, comprised of pianist Jestin Pieper, cellist Jacob Nordlinger, and violinist Elizabeth Wright, formed during the Covid-19 pandemic as a response to the need to keep the arts alive. Individually, its members lead active performing and teaching careers, having performed in Europe, Asia, South America, Canada, and throughout the United States, on stages including Carnegie Hall, Bruno Walter Auditorium, United Nations, and the Kennedy Center.

The Danish String Quartet made its debut at the Copenhagen Summer Festival in 2002. The group is known for its performances of classical music as well as its own renditions of traditional Nordic folk music. The quartet has also worked with an extensive range of contemporary Scandinavian composers.

Since their inception in 2016, the Callisto Quartet has garnered top prizes in nearly every major international chamber music competition. Grand Prize winners of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize Winners of the Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Callisto Quartet has also taken home prizes from the Bordeaux, Melbourne, and Wigmore Hall competitions. The Callisto Quartet maintains a busy touring schedule, appearing across Europe, Australia, Central America, and North America at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Wigmore Hall. The Callisto Quartet frequently appears at premier music festivals, including the Ravinia Festival, La Jolla Music Society Summerfest, Caramoor Center, Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, Emilia Romagna Festival, Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, McGill International String Quartet Academy, and Prussia Cove IMS.

World-wise with a home-grown vibe, Story Laurie is the very embodiment of a modern-day troubadour who enchants all ages. Kids and adults alike get swept up in the fun, buzzing like bees and singing our hearts out about everything from wonderful wiggly worms to homegrown tomatoes.

Named “Best Children’s Performer” by Hudson Valley Magazine, Story Laurie is a delightful performer who serves up a lively, engaging blend of folk tales from various cultures and witty tunes that inspire kids of all ages to sing along.

Maverick welcomes back STEVE GORN, an acclaimed bansuri flutist known for his deeply resonant sound, described by some listeners as capable of “re‑aligning the cells.” He has performed Indian classical and new American music on the bansuri bamboo flute in concerts and festivals throughout the world. His teachers include the bansuri master Sri Gour Goswami of Kolkata, Pandit Raghunath Seth, and the late Ustad Z. M. Dagar. Gorn is also featured on the Grammy‑winning recording Miho – Journey to the Mountain with the Paul Winter Consort and has performed widely across India at venues such as Bharat Bhavan, Triveni Hall, The Sangeet Research Academy, NCPA, and The Nehru Center.

The Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. A former BBC New Generation Artist and recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the quartet has performed at the BBC Proms at Cadogan Hall and is a regular guest at Wigmore Hall. In its home town of New York, the ensemble serves as season artists of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Woodstock resident PETER BLUM has been thrilling audiences for the past 40 years with his Sounds For Healing meditative concerts. The audience will be treated to sounds from around the world, featuring a stunning array of over 35 Himalayan singing bowls, large gongs, tamboura (India), ’ngoni (W. Africa), flute (N. America), and other exotic instruments. A typical presentation will also include some spoken explanation of the origins of instruments and some history of the use of sound and music for healing and meditation. Peter has presented his concerts at Omega Institute, The Abode of The Message, Menla Retreat Center, the United Nations and many yoga centers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe.

A member of jazz’s piano pantheon, Fred Hersch has been an influential creative force over more than three decades as an improviser, composer, educator, bandleader, collaborator, and recording artist. He has been proclaimed “the most arrestingly innovative pianist in jazz over the last decade” by Vanity Fair and “a living legend” by The New Yorker. A seventeen-time Grammy nominee, Hersch has garnered jazz’s most prestigious awards, including a Doris Duke Artist (2016), Jazz Pianist of the Year from the Jazz Journalists Association (2011, 2016, 2018), and the Jazz Magazine (France) International Artist of the Year (2021). A trained musicologist, he emerged from the dim, post-war jazz scene in the South of Germany, where stationed U.S. soldiers fueled the music underground—until renowned American jazz musicians began forming their own bands there. American jazz stylings of Django Reinhardt, Thelonius Monk, and Hoagy Carmichael to the roots music of Chet Atkins, Lonnie Johnson, and many more, it’s a vast landscape of styles that shows their combined creative influences and the connection of these genres throughout the years .

The Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth (CMSFW) is dedicated to presenting superior chamber music experiences through education, outreach, and performances that inspire, uplift, and connect with our community. Since its first performances in 1989, CMSFW has made an important contribution to the vibrant performing arts scene in Fort Worth and North Texas. At the beginning of the Society, an ensemble of local artists worked with guest artists from around the country, and from around the world, to present seven concerts each season. A variety of local venues were used for the performances, starting with the Kimbell Art Museum, the Texas Boys Choir Building, and the McDavid Studio at Bass Hall. For the last eleven seasons, the concerts have taken place in the Auditorium of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Many of our prominent guest artists have been drawn from the ranks of the finalists in the Van Cliburn Piano Competition, and have often returned several times to perform at our concerts.

Marco Benevento has always moved like someone who understands the studio as its own instrument, not just a room where the toys are. Long before he began popping up on stages with Freddie Gibbs and Madlib, and in the liner notes of albums by Clairo and Leon Bridges, Benevento was already thinking like a producer — listening for texture, tension and negative space, and the strange emotional alchemy that occurs when groove and curiosity collide.

Grammy award-winning pianist Bill Charlap has performed with many of the leading artists of our time, including Phil Woods, Tony Bennett, Gerry Mulligan, Wynton Marsalis, Freddy Cole, and Houston Person. Born in New York City, Charlap began playing the piano at age three. His father was Broadway composer Moose Charlap, whose credits include Peter Pan. His mother is singer Sandy Stewart, who toured with Benny Goodman and was a regular on the Perry Como show. She earned a 1963 Grammy nomination for her recording of “My Coloring Book.” In 2005, Charlap and Stewart released the acclaimed CD “Love Is Here to Stay” (Blue Note).

Acclaimed as an “outstanding ensemble…cohesive yet full of temperament” (The New York Times), the Verona Quartet has firmly established itself amongst the most distinguished ensembles on the chamber music scene today. The group’s singular sense of purpose most recently earned them Chamber Music America’s coveted 2020 Cleveland Quartet Award, and a reputation for its “bold interpretive strength, robust characterization and commanding resonance” (Calgary Herald). The Quartet serves on the faculty of the Oberlin College and Conservatory as the Quartet-in-Residence. In addition to its position at Oberlin, the Quartet holds residencies at Nova Scotia’s Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance and North Carolina’s Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle. As committed advocates of diverse programming, the Verona Quartet curates the UpClose Chamber Music Series on behalf of the COT, electrifying audiences from concert halls to craft breweries with their “sensational, powerhouse performance[s]” (Classical Voice America).
