The Royal Swedish Orchestra, known in Swedish as Kungliga Hovkapellet, is one of the oldest orchestras in the world, with a storied history dating back to the early 16th century. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, this prestigious ensemble has been an integral part of the Swedish Royal Court, playing a significant cultural role throughout its long history. In 1773, it became the permanent orchestra of the Royal Swedish Opera, and to this day, it continues to perform operas, ballets, and concerts at the Royal Swedish Opera House.
