Salt-N-Pepa is not an artistic organization, but instead a highly influential hip-hop group hailing from Queens, New York. Formed in 1985, the group originally consisted of Cheryl 'Salt' James, Sandra 'Pepa' Denton, and Deidra 'DJ Spinderella' Roper. They are recognized as pioneers in the music industry, being one of the first all-female rap groups. Salt-N-Pepa broke new ground with their bold lyricism and assertive style, which challenged the gender norms of the male-dominated hip-hop scene. Some of their most notable hits include 'Push It', 'Shoop', and 'Let's Talk About Sex'. Over the years, they have received multiple awards, including a Grammy Award in 1995 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. Their impact on music and culture continues to resonate, as they helped pave the way for future generations of female artists in the hip-hop genre.
