Collegiate Chorale

The Collegiate Chorale, now known as MasterVoices, is a prominent chorus based in New York City. Founded in 1941 by legendary American conductor Robert Shaw, the Chorale quickly gained a reputation for musical excellence. It has been known for its innovative programming, often juxtaposing classic choral repertoire with new compositions and lesser-known works. Over the years, the Chorale has performed at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and has collaborated with leading orchestras and soloists. Although originally established to provide college students and young adults with opportunities to perform, the organization has evolved into a professional ensemble with a diverse and inclusive membership. The Chorale's legacy includes many notable performances and recordings, contributing significantly to New York’s cultural scene.
