 The Swedish multi-artist Gunhild Carling takes the stage to the next level when, together with the Randers Chamber Orchestra, she throws herself into a surprising and virtuoso cocktail of show, dance, step and musicality at the highest level. She masters the trumpet, trombone, bagpipes, recorder, piano, harp, violin, cello and drums. In addition to playing with her own orchestra and being a soloist with a wide range of other orchestras, Gunhild Carling is a formidable composer and arranger. Over the past few years, she has created a wide range of beautiful melodies and arranged them for string orchestra. The Randers Chamber Orchestra has taken up the challenge and is participating with Gunhild Carling in this unique concert.

Characteristic of this orchestra, which has played all over Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands, is an infectious joy of playing, spontaneous ideas and a mutual dynamic that can be felt beyond the edge of the stage. The audience can expect some exciting improvisations from an elegant violin performed by Esben Kjær, both alone and in conjunction with Kim Mouritzen's melodic and fantastic guitar playing.

It makes the roof fly off every time and with the two horns it always becomes a party. Alice's beautiful voice is backed up in the best way by the four extremely competent musicians.

Nanna Carling, born in 1997, is a unique talent and a new star in traditional jazz. Despite her young age, she has a long experience of performing on stage in various constellations, not least with the Carling Family Band. Now Nanna is focusing wholeheartedly on her own swing band, where she, together with a handful of young talented musicians, delivers traditional jazz and swing at a high level and with infectious joy and enthusiasm. An orchestra that in just a few years has taken the jazz scene throughout Northern Europe by storm.

Dynamic is more than a vocal group. With four strong jazz singers in the front and a rhythm section with something on their heart, they play with every conceivable combination of voices and instruments. The band was founded when Paul Kim moved to Denmark from San Francisco, where he had won awards and performed and worked with big names in vocal jazz. Since then, Dynamic has made a name for itself on the Danish jazz scene in a rare genre, and with a captivating repertoire of both new interpretations of beloved well-known jazz numbers and their own compositions. Several reviewers have compared them to The Manhattan Transfer, but the band has its own sound. The audience is invited into a warm and entertaining show of the highest musical quality, which radiates joy of life, love of music and with room for both seriousness and humor.

The music is definitely the closest you will get to a modern version of Django Reinhardt's captivating rhythms, and you can expect an almost magical atmosphere. The legendary French guitarist, Amati Schmitt, comes from an old gypsy family, where Gypsy Jazz is an integral part of everyday life.

This group was formed in November 2019, when the 3 musicians – from Kansas City Stompers – Kurt Riedel, Gert Rostock and Palle Juul Hansen, together with Rikke decided to leave KCS to form a new band with Rikke in the front. They also got the well-known trombone player & arranger Nicolai Bøgelund in the group. In this group, Rikke Mølgaard's rich and warm voice comes into its own.

After having been a sideman for American and Danish jazz icons, Jan Nielsen started his own trio and quartet/quintet in 2016, playing solid swinging jazz inspired by, among others, Nat King Cole, Oscar Peterson, Earl Garner and Gene Harris. Jan Nielsen lived in the USA for a number of years and played gigs with local musicians in New Orleans. Jan Nielsen is a very versatile musician and also plays with, among others, Red Hot Four+1/+2. With the Flying Jazzman Sextet, he has put together his own dream team. A strong musical team composed of some of the best.

Perhaps Sweden's most popular traditional jazz orchestra. Second Line Jazzband is characterized by their outgoing and fresh playing style. True to traditional jazz, but with their own spices, they frolic in good old jazz melodies, Swedish folk tunes and a few blues stanzas.

Kira Martini has in recent years grown into a strong voice within vocal jazz, and has quickly established herself among the top vocalists on the Danish jazz scene. She is a recognized and busy musician, who can be found on both the domestic and international stages, with her varied repertoire, honesty and fervor.

An introduction to this orchestra is almost superfluous. For more than 60 years, they have rightfully been able to call themselves the city's jazz ambassadors and have spread good swinging jazz music throughout the country and far beyond its borders.

This time, guitarist Jacob Fischer will be performing with a superb, swinging quartet with some of the very young talents who are storming the jazz scene in recent years. Together they will throw themselves into some of the autumn classics, both from jazz's treasury of evergreens and the Danish song treasury. Jacob Fischer will probably be known to most people, not least from all the years with Svend Asmussen or the several thousand concerts with Finn Ziegler and Hugo Rasmussen, and he has also been a frequent guest in Silkeborg over the years. Pianist Zier Romme Larsen's both energetic and sensitive playing with Oscar Peterson, as a clear role model, is truly an experience out of the ordinary. He is the recipient of the Ben Webster Award 2023 that Fischer received in 1996. With his virtuoso, melodic, and rock-solid playing, bassist Matthias Petri is one of the most prominent younger bassists in Denmark. Andreas Svendsen is the brightest drumming talent we have experienced in many years and has played closely with Matthias Petri after their years together in New York.

Doghouse Cats is a 6-piece jump and jive band that plays music from the 40s and 50s. With their hats tilted, polished shoes and a brass band, they have created a band that really appeals to dancing feet. Doghouse Cats plays songs like, “In The Mood”, “Shake Rattle and Roll”, “Just a gigolo”, “Don't Get Around Much Anymore” and many more. With a joy to play that can be felt far into the room, Doghouse Cats has already had great success with the audience and plays at clubs and venues as well as at private events and in associations.

Adrian Cox is one of the most recognized international clarinetists and was nominated for the 'UK Parliamentary Jazz Awards “Jazz Instrumentalist” of the year 2021' in 2021. Adrian Cox started playing at the age of 6 and turned professional when he was 15. He has toured all over Europe with his own group and is described as one of England's most charismatic clarinetists. Adrian Cox spends most of his life touring the world and has played in more than 30 different countries to date. With this quartet, Adrian has put together a group that has reached the highest level in terms of technique, intensity and playing style.

Violinist Caroline Bugala visits Silkeborg again with Kjeld Lauritsen's Hammond trio. Caroline spontaneously showed up to one of Kjeld Lauritsen's jam sessions at La Fontaine a few years ago and wowed the audience with her fantastic playing. Before she had played her 2 numbers, she was engaged for a concert at the venue, and she has been a dear guest ever since. Her playing is rooted in many years of studying classical violin, but when she encountered jazz, a great love was born. Caroline's eminent technique and deep roots in swinging gypsy jazz provide the basis for this concert that reaches far and wide with detours to blues, Latin American music and tango. Kjeld Lauritsen Trio is expanded on this occasion with master guitarist Uffe Steen.

The International Hot Jazz Quartet is a truly unique quartet that has made traditional jazz, as it was played in the period 1920-1950, its trademark. At the same time, the group has given the music renewed energy and left its own mark. Although there are only four musicians, where traditional jazz is most often played by 6 to 7 musicians, the music lacks neither intensity nor form. It is traditional jazz at a high level with a splash of innovation.

This orchestra pays tribute to the greatest of them all, namely Louis Armstrong himself, also known as Satchmo and Pops. The concert is conducted by Nicolas Kock and consists of seven of the best jazz musicians in the country, all of whom have roots in and are affiliated with the Esbjerg Academy of Music. Together they form one of Louis Armstrong's most used band compositions. There is hardly a jazz musician who has inspired as many as Louis Armstrong has. Many of Satchmo's unforgettable evergreens will be treated with loving care by the seven-piece orchestra.

The Vooo Ca Ray have played at several of the Danish jazz festivals. Among others, Riverboat Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Jazz, Aarhus Jazz Festival.

The group plays music that was popular in Denmark in the time just before and during the occupation 1940-45. The repertoire is primarily swing numbers and revue songs. A number of popular American swing numbers of the period are also played, where the competent musicians in the orchestra can be allowed to unfold. With Karoline Budtz at the front of this wonderful group, it is decidedly outgoing, catchy classic jazz. Karoline Budtz is in addition to being a skilled singer, also a brilliant 'performer' and knows how to give the audience a pleasant and wonderful musical experience.

This orchestra celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024! So for more than three decades, this orchestra has been one of Sweden's leading traditional jazz bands. Over the years, the orchestra has been led by Joakim Falk, whose trumpet playing is strongly inspired by the New Orleans style. The orchestra has developed within traditional jazz and ragtime and is today playing better than ever. They have previously been to the Riverboat Jazz Festival and have toured many European countries. We are looking forward to their first concert at Frokostjazzen in Silkeborg.

Stephanie Trick and Paolo Alderighi are pioneers in their approach to taking the beloved classic jazz repertoire under loving and expert treatment for 2 and 4 hands. Their interpretation of jazz classics exposed to ragtime, boogie woogie and swing periods is unique. Both two and four hands are played on the same piano when music from the golden age of swing in the 1920s and 1930s is performed by these two formidable pianists.

French Olivier Franc is, if anything, an ambassador for Sidney Bechet's formidable way of playing the soprano saxophone. He is rightly a well-known and appreciated musician and has played all over the world. Together with his incredibly well-playing quintet, he has previously played at Lunch Jazz and during Riverboat. One of Northern Germany's best traditional jazz bands is on a return visit, having previously delighted the Frokostjazzen audience as well as other jazz fans in Denmark with their swinging way of playing traditional jazz. As an added bonus, they have the talented and outgoing singer Alexandra, who took the audience by storm the last two times she was here.

Both audiences and critics have repeatedly had to surrender to Amanda Ginsburg, who with her incredible singing voice and highly original repertoire has managed to lift vocal jazz to new heights in her sister country. Her refined arrangements and captivating vocals create an immediate intimacy with the listener, and her career has taken shape with rocket speed in recent years.

The American song treasury is packed with evergreens like 'The Christmas Song', 'Jingle Bells' and 'I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas', but the Danish song treasury also contains a long list of songs and hymns that are inextricably linked to the holiday season above all else. Signe Juhl Quartet feat. The Swinging Sisters will lead the audience through a repertoire with quirky arrangements of old Danish songs, close-harmony vocals on the American evergreens a la the legendary The Andrew Sisters flanked by polyphonic singing and cello.
