Monteverdi Choir

The Monteverdi Choir is a renowned British choir founded by Sir John Eliot Gardiner in 1964. Specializing in classical and Baroque music, the choir has gained international acclaim for its performances and recordings of works by composers such as J.S. Bach, Claudio Monteverdi, and other Baroque masters. Gardiner established the choir for a performance of Claudio Monteverdi's 'Vespers' at King's College Chapel, Cambridge, and it quickly rose to prominence for its stylistic authenticity and vocal excellence. The choir has received numerous awards for its recordings, including Grammy Awards and Gramophone Awards. It is also closely associated with the English Baroque Soloists and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, both founded by Gardiner.
