Erlesene Oper

The association "erlesene oper e.V." (select opera association) was founded on September 22, 2011, in Halfing and aims to revive unknown or forgotten operas. Many operas and singspiels are unjustly forgotten today or have not been performed since their creation. The performance material often has to be painstakingly searched for or painstakingly gleaned from manuscripts – hence the association's double-edged name. These works, in particular, are increasingly attracting the interest of audiences who have grown weary of the familiar operas performed on stages worldwide. This is also evidenced by the trend of releasing unknown works on CDs, which is a welcome addition for many opera fans.
