International Contemporary Ensemble

The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) is a prominent collective in the contemporary classical music scene. Founded in 2001 by a group of young musicians, it has grown to become a leading force in the commissioning and performance of new music. ICE is known for its innovative approach, often integrating multimedia elements and collaborating across artistic disciplines. The ensemble has premiered over a thousand works and regularly features compositions by emerging as well as established composers. It has a flexible roster of around 35 musicians who perform in varying configurations, adapting to the specific demands of contemporary pieces. ICE has been recognized for its artistic excellence with numerous awards, including the prestigious American Music Center’s Trailblazer Award and the Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. Their performances are held across the globe, including prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center.
