Bakkehuset is a historic cultural institution located in Copenhagen, Denmark. Originally a country house from the late 17th century, it became well-known in the 19th century as a salon for intellectuals and artists. The house was famously associated with Kamma and Knud Lyne Rahbek, who hosted various prominent figures of the Danish Golden Age, including Hans Christian Andersen, Adam Oehlenschläger, and Grundtvig. Today, Bakkehuset functions as a museum dedicated to the period and the cultural life of its famous residents. The museum showcases a rich collection of personal memorabilia, manuscripts, and artifacts related to the Rahbek couple and their contemporaries. Moreover, Bakkehuset regularly hosts exhibitions and cultural events that celebrate its historical legacy and significance in Denmark's cultural heritage.
