==Chamber Music Monterey Bay== '''Chamber Music Monterey Bay''' (CMMB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the cultural life of the community through high-quality chamber music performances and community education programs. Established in 1966, CMMB has its origins in an early California music initiative started by Hazel Watrous and Dene Denny in the mid-1920s. The organization is recognized as a 501(c)(3) entity under the tax ID 23-7001657. ===Mission=== CMMB's mission is to promote chamber music through a world-class concert series and educational outreach. The organization defines chamber music as an intimate art form performed by one person per part, typically with two or more players and without a conductor. CMMB focuses on European-based traditions of chamber music composed over the past four centuries, as well as its contemporary international expressions. ===Vision=== The vision of Chamber Music Monterey Bay is to preserve the tradition of live classical chamber music performance and to creatively explore the evolution of this art form. ===Core Values and Beliefs=== CMMB holds the belief that chamber music is an intimate art form that requires a high level of training and experience for successful performance. The organization also believes in the importance of exposure to new music for the evolution of this living art form. ===Artistic Highlights and History=== Over the years, CMMB has achieved several milestones, including participation in the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award (KLRITA) from 2002 to 2012, commissioning their first chamber work "Credo" by Kevin Puts in 2007, and launching a multi-event residency program with the Cypress String Quartet in 2008. Their Visiting Artist Outreach Program continues to bring interactive music activities to K-12 classrooms and senior residences in Monterey County. CMMB has presented a variety of innovative programs, such as "Te Amo Argentina" in 2012, "Portals" in 2013, and the four-part "Arc of Life" commissioning project from 2011 to 2015. The organization also co-commissioned a new work by Aaron Jay Kernis in the 2015-2016 season and plans to continue commissioning new works to explore chamber music's ongoing evolution. ===Board and Staff=== The Board of Directors and office staff are integral to CMMB's operations. As of 2022, the board includes Jon Showe as President, Beth Garnett as Vice President, Bob Reid as Treasurer, and Janet Brennan as Secretary, among others. The office staff is led by Alcide Three Guillory III, the Director of Operations, and Elizabeth Brooks, the Administrative Coordinator. CMMB continues to contribute to the cultural landscape of the Monterey Peninsula with its commitment to presenting and advancing chamber music for the enjoyment and education of the community. ==External Links== * [Official website] * [Social media profiles] * [Upcoming concerts and events] * [Donation and support information]
