Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, or as it is sometimes referred to, DLO3, specializes in the lost art of “feel-good music.” The precise sequence of music chosen by Delvon is unique in itself, as he creates an experience for each show based on the vibe and feel of that audience. This includes the 1960s organ jazz stylings of Jimmy Smith and Baby Face Willette, a tweak of the snappy soul strut of Booker T. & The M.G.’s, and The Meters. It teases you with Motown, Stax Records, blues, and many other styles that may surprise you. Carrying on the infectious deep-pocket R&B of Booker T. and the greasy, funky, soul-jazz organ tradition of Charles Earland and Jimmy McGriff, Seattle-based organ king Delvon Lamarr kicks off the 40th San Francisco Jazz Festival with his whip-crack trio for an evening of dance-inspiring party jams. Beginning his musical life as a drummer, Lamarr was inspired to pick up the Hammond at age 22 by the legends of the instrument and Seattle icon Joe Doria.

Lamarr built his trio around a weekly residency at Seattle’s Royal Room and the band recorded its self-produced debut album, Close But No Cigar, before setting out as a tireless touring unit.
