Theater- und Carnevalverein Bechtolsheim e.V.

The Theater- und Carnevalverein Bechtolsheim currently has around 200 members and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2017. Founded in 1892 as the Theaterverein Spätheim, it set out to enrich cultural life in Bechtolsheim through amateur drama, folk music, song and conviviality, offering a counterbalance to daily work. The first plays staged were 'Der heimliche Sünder' and 'Üb immer Treu und Redlichkeit', and as early as 1893 the association performed away from home in Dolgesheim. Alongside theatre, carnival was soon established too, with parades and festive evening events.
