Vincent Jaufmann began his musical career at fifteen. Alongside piano and bassoon lessons he taught himself the guitar, and singing in several choirs, where he also took solo roles, shaped his vocal development. Wishing to pass on his musical enthusiasm, he founded a children's music group at seventeen, composing his own arrangements. After school and civilian service he studied music education with emphases in singing, choral conducting and music theory; his formative teachers included Jolyon Brettingham Smith, Peter Schwarz and Claus Bock. Alongside varied work as a choral and solo singer, in 1995 he took over the artistic direction of MGV Concordia 1950, in which he had sung as a youth.
