The New West Symphony is a distinguished American orchestra based in the coastal regions of Ventura and Los Angeles counties, California. Established in 1995, the Symphony has become a beacon of artistic excellence, showcasing the transformative power of live symphonic music. With a history spanning over two decades, the orchestra draws its talent from the professional musicians of the greater Los Angeles area, renowned for their versatility and expertise. Under the artistic leadership of GRAMMY-winning Music Director Maestro Michael Christie, who was appointed in December 2018, the New West Symphony has flourished as a premier performing arts organization. The Symphony is the resident company of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza and also performs at the Rancho Campana Performing Arts Center in Camarillo. The New West Symphony's season includes six Masterpiece Series concerts annually, where it performs a broad and diverse classical repertoire, featuring major works from the symphonic canon. These concerts often include guest appearances by internationally acclaimed soloists, further enhancing the Symphony's commitment to artistic excellence. The orchestra's members, many of whom are tenured, are not only GRAMMY-nominated artists but also contribute to film soundtracks for movies such as "Jurassic Park," "Star Wars" and "La La Land. The Symphony's vision is to attract diverse, capacity audiences to celebrate the power of music, and it is dedicated to engaging and enriching the community through its performances and education initiatives.
