Drawing on the cantata La Pazza Venuta da Napoli, composed around 1630 by Pietro Antonio Giramo, the brilliant musicians of the Kapsber'girls lead us, through music, staging and improvisation, into a pocket opera with the air of the commedia dell'arte: the story of a woman madly in love who, harshly rejected by the object of her affection, wanders between delirious tales and heartbreaking songs. Around this tragicomic figure from Giramo's work, vocal pieces by Barbara Strozzi and Hieronymus Kapsberger enrich the world of a concert on the theme of lovesick madness.

The Mad Woman Who Came from Naples

As a prelude to the performance of Messiah the following day, discover the original approach and the work of the musicians of Liberati through this documentary by Sylvain Trousselle. Filmed in 2022 on the occasion of the ensemble's first concerts, the film goes to the heart of Liberati's work, which attempts a new experience of ensemble music by promoting the autonomy of the performers, without the intermediary of a conductor, and by giving a decisive role to the pipe organ. Musicians from the ensemble will be present after the screening to talk with the audience. No reservation required, free admission subject to available seats. Running time of the film: 85 minutes.
