The Aurora Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is a community-based, all-volunteer orchestra that has been serving Aurora, Colorado, and the Denver Metro area since its inception in 1978. The organization was founded by local civic leader Alice Lee Main and the founding conductor Gloria Olsen. The ASO's commitment to embracing the community's cultural diversity and appreciation for the arts is evident through its performances of symphonic music that pay homage to heritage, celebrate contemporary artistic achievements, and aim to create a lasting cultural legacy. The orchestra's first public performance took place in 1979 at the Bicentennial Park during the Aurora Arts Festival. Since then, the ASO has evolved from its modest beginnings to become Aurora's sole symphony orchestra, achieving non-profit status in 1996. Over the years, the ASO has been under the leadership of several conductors, including Gloria Olsen (1978-1989), Richard Molzer (1989-2003), Richard Niezen (2003-2011), Norman Gamboa (2011-2022), and an interim period with Kyle Rupley (2022-2023). The current Artistic Director and Principal Conductor is Mr. Jeremy Cuebas, who holds the Paul D. Wren Artistic Director Chair. The orchestra comprises over 60 volunteer musicians from various backgrounds, united by their passion for performing great music. The ASO's Board of Directors consists of community members who share a commitment to promoting music and the arts within Aurora. Education and community engagement are core elements of the ASO's mission. The orchestra places a strong emphasis on arts education, aiming to foster better citizenship and a lifelong love of music among community members. The ASO's annual Children's & Family performances offer a free and accessible way for children to experience the world of music and learn about musical instruments. These educational concerts and hands-on opportunities are designed to encourage children to develop their musical talents and gain valuable life skills such as self-discipline, self-expression, and higher self-esteem. The ASO's mission is to present quality music in Aurora and its surrounding communities. Its vision encompasses a commitment to cultural diversity, artistic appreciation, and the creation of a cultural legacy. The orchestra offers a variety of concert experiences, including season tickets, masterworks concerts, free concerts, and special holiday events. Located at P.O.
