Acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke was born in Athens, Georgia, but left town after a year and a half. Raised in 12 different states, he absorbed a variety of musical influences as a child, flirting with both violin and trombone, before abandoning Stravinsky for the guitar at age 11. Kottke has been awarded two Grammy nominations; a Doctorate in Music Performance by the Peck School of Music at the U of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; and a Certificate of Significant Achievement in Not Playing the Trombone from the U of Texas at Brownsville with Texas Southmost College. He is known for a fingerpicking style that draws on blues, jazz, and folk music, and for syncopated, polyphonic melodies.

Trenton Klaz is a pianist, composer and bandleader based in Miami, Florida. Carlos Vizoso is currently an adjunct instructor in jazz studies at the University of Florida and has taught Jazz Improvisation, Jazz Fundamentals 1, Jazz Fundamentals 2, Jazz Chamber Music and Jazz History. At the University of Florida, he received the Jim Theriac Jazz Scholarship, has headlined the Hippodrome Jazz Series, performed with Grammy Artist Jose Valentino, percussionist Clyde Connor, and Director of Jazz Studies, Scott Wilson. He currently performs in the Central Florida area with several Billboard topping acts such as Adam Hawley, Four80East, Brian Simpson and others including George Porter Jr. and Moon Taxi. At the University of South Alabama where he received his Bachelor’s in Music Education, he was awarded the prestigious John W. Laidlaw scholarship, was lead alto in the Jazz Ensemble 1, co-principal alto saxophonist in the Wind Ensemble, and taught private lessons for students in the surrounding area. Carlos Vizoso’s influences include David Sanborn, Paquito D’Rivera, Cannonball Adderly, Eric Marienthal, and Gerald Albright.

Wilson’s jazz textbooks, the Ultimate Jazz Tool Kit and Ultimate Music Workbook, are available through Kendall Hunt Publishing and accompanied by 35 jazz instructional videos that cover topics ranging from jazz theory to song writing.  His nationally available published online jazz education platforms include Jazz Fundamentals 1, Jazz Fundamentals 2, Jazz Aural Skills and Jazz History, and in 2012 Scott Wilson received the Technology Innovator Award from the University of Florida for his advancements in online delivery platforms. 33rd Annual Young Artist Competition: Honors Recital

Creedence Revived has rapidly become one of the most highly sought after tribute bands in the world.  Playing all over the globe for crowds upwards of 30,000, and with a track-record of selling out shows everywhere they go, this group is the real deal.

The group is made up of four of Chicago’s & LA’s most talented and eclectic musicians – consisting of an award winning vocalist nicknamed “the chameleon” in the industry for his unique ability to shift his vocal to match the style of any vocalist, a world-renowned blues guitarist who attracts blues fans from around the world, a studio bassist who has a appeared on many top charting albums, and a drummer who sells out theaters on his own based solely on his unique playing style.

Scotty Barnhart is an acclaimed jazz trumpeter, leader, composer, arranger, educator, author and now in his twentieth year with the legendary Count Basie Orchestra has been appointed as their new Director. A Two-time Grammy Award winner with the Basie Orchestra, three critically acclaimed recordings by pianist Marcus Roberts and over ten recordings with the likes of Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Ray Charles, and Tito Puente, Scotty released his debut solo CD ‘Say It Plain’ on the Unity Music label. Scotty invited Clark Terry, Ellis and Wynton Marsalis, Marcus Roberts, Jamie Davis and Etienne Charles to share his compositions and love of standards on Con Alma, Giant Steps and Barnhart’s own, Dedicated To You. Say It Plain achieved No. 3 in the Jazz Charts and has received celebrated reviews. Acknowledged as one of the authorities on the history of jazz trumpet, he intently researched and wrote the ground breaking book The World of Jazz Trumpet – A Comprehensive History and Practical Philosophy. Published by Hal Leonard, it is a valuable source tool for jazz trumpeters, students and jazz fans with interviews from Harry ‘Sweets’ Edison to Chuck Mangione, technical tutorials, historical events and illustrated with unpublished photographs. When Scotty Barnhart is not touring with The Count Basie Orchestra or teaching at Florida State University, he performs with his own quintet-sextet and lectures and demonstrates at schools, colleges, universities, conferences around the world, spreading jazz music to ensure its future for others to explore and enjoy.

Ryan completed his Masters degree in Jazz Performance at The New England Conservatory in Boston, MA under the instruction of saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi in 2023.

Ryan has been a member and featured soloist in ensembles such as The Florida All State Jazz band, The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, The Orlando Jazz Orchestra. Ryan has toured a majority of the United States playing at famous jazz clubs like Smalls in NYC, Chris’ Jazz Cafe in Philly, Timucua Arts Foundation in Orlando FL and Rudy’s Jazz Room in Nashville. Ryan is also the 2017 winner of the Central Florida Jazz Society scholarship competition and was runner up in 2017 Bob Washington Jazz scholarship competition.

From late 1998 – 2000 Lannie toured worldwide with iconic Latin Pop Artist, 2x GRAMMY Award® winner, 2x Latin GRAMMY Award® winner, and 3x Platinum Recording artist Olga Tañon. In 1998, he reinvented himself and opened his current business Hands In Motion Music Productions & Marketing – a three-tier company that includes an independent music label, a Music School, and a full-service marketing agency – all geared toward the aspiring musician.

Jose Valentino has earned preeminent awards in various industries, including four GRAMMY® Awards (2022 Best Latin Children’s Album, 2022 Best Christian Album in the Spanish Language, 2020 Best Contemporary Classical Composition, and 2019 Best Christian Album in the Spanish Language), two GRAMMY® Award Nominations (2016 Best Instrumental Album and 2015 Best Latin Jazz Album), and an EMMY® Award (2018 Best Cultural Documentary).

As the child of Country music royalty, Pam Tillis was determined from a young age to find her own way in music as a singer and songwriter. After many false starts with her own recording career, including a pop single on Elektra and 1984’s “Above And Beyond The Doll Of Cutey” for Warner Brothers, Tillis came to the attention of Tim Dubois who headed up the Nashville office of Arista records. After much soul searching, Tillis made the commitment to make an honest country record. The album “Put Yourself In My Place” yielded 2 number ones, 2 top five singles, and one top twenty hits and in its first year the album was certified gold. Tillis followed with 3 platinum albums on Arista “Homeward Looking Angel” in 1992, “Sweethearts Dance” in 1994 and an Arista “Greatest Hits” in 1997. Tillis achieved 6 number 1 songs during this time including “Shake the Sugar Tree”, “Mi Vida Loca”, “When You Walk In The Room”, “In Between Dances” “Don’t Tell Me What To Do” and “Maybe It Was Memphis” while 14 of Pam’s other singles landed in the top ten and top twenty.

Daniel Jordan is a nationally recognized jazz musician and educator since 1976. Dan joined Maynard Ferguson’s band in 1982 and began touring and recording as the tenor soloist. He is the creator of a nationally distributed educational video, “Journey through Jazz”. Dan has taught at numerous schools including Rollins College and has performed with a multitude of renowned artists such as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra Jr, Wayne Newton, Doc Severenson, Billy Eckstein, The Dallas Jazz Orchestra, Woody Herman, Barry Manilow, The Four Tops, The Temptations and many more. He has performed on New York City Broadway, Late Night with David Letterman, and in countless other shows and productions. His television and recording experience include touring with Paul Anka, at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and a tour with Natalie Cole on live television in Italy, Germany, Poland and France. Other recordings include “Live From Birdland” with Scott Whitfield, “Storm” and “Live at the Great American Music Hall” with Maynard Ferguson, plus with various artists, “Live From Pleasure Island.”

From terrifying Vampires fresh from their graves to Ghastly Revenants and Banshees, and from amusingly bewildered Ghosts to the very terrors of being buried alive – Phantasmagoria will weave their tapestry of “Whimsically Macabre” tales at Ocala’s Reilly Arts Center on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
