Founded with a mission to celebrate the rich tradition of Black storytelling, True Colors Theatre Company is dedicated to providing a platform for bold artists from diverse cultures to express their narratives. Under the visionary leadership of Artistic Director Jamil Jude, the company has positioned itself at the forefront of artistic excellence and civic engagement. The True Colors Theatre Company is known for its Sankofa Seasons, a three-year thematic series that began in the 2021-2022 season. This series is inspired by the Akan people of Ghana's belief that one must remember the past to move forward. The 2022-2023 season marked the theater's 20th anniversary with the theme "Reclaiming Ours," showcasing remixes of True Colors and Black theatre classics to honor the company's successful legacy. The final year, "Looking Forward" in 2023-2024, is set to present all world premieres. The company's commitment to community engagement is reflected in its various initiatives, including the True Colors Podcast, True Talks, and collaborations such as "All Good in the Neighborhood" and "Eugene IV Live at MARTA." The theater also hosts events like the Next Narrative Monologue Competition, fostering new talent and encouraging storytelling. True Colors Theatre Company acknowledges its presence on the traditional and ancestral land of the Creek and Muscogee Peoples, paying respect to elders past and present. This acknowledgment is part of the company's broader commitment to honoring Native Lands and Peoples. Located at 915 New Hope Rd, Atlanta, GA, with an administrative address at 887 West Marietta Street, Suite J-102, Atlanta, GA, the company continues to engage with audiences while adapting to the changing circumstances, such as recommending masks and encouraging social distancing at events in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
