Seraphic Fire is a distinguished American professional vocal ensemble based in South Florida, renowned for its commitment to historical performance practice and educational outreach. Founded in 2002 with the aim of presenting high-caliber performances of vocal music, the organization has since evolved into a significant contributor to the local and national arts scenes. The ensemble's mission is to deliver performances of historically significant and underperformed music at the highest quality, while also fostering artistic growth through the professional development and documentation of the musicians' talents. Seraphic Fire places a strong emphasis on educational programs to enhance community engagement and connectivity. In pursuit of its vision, the organization aspires to set the standard for quality contributions to professional ensemble singing across North America. Since its inception as a small volunteer-run entity, Seraphic Fire has expanded into a professionally managed organization with a $2.2 million budget and a dedicated staff of 10. The ensemble's growth is marked by its national and international touring activities, which began in 2007. Notably, Seraphic Fire made its international debut in Mexico City in 2010, performing to sold-out audiences. The ensemble continues to tour across the United States, having performed in various locations including Vermont, Indiana, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Kansas City, and New York. Seraphic Fire's discography includes 16 full-length albums, with its first album recorded in 2008. The ensemble's excellence in recording has been recognized with two GRAMMY nominations in 2012 for "A Seraphic Fire Christmas" and "Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem," with two of its albums reaching the top 10 on Billboard's classical chart. Education initiatives have been a cornerstone of Seraphic Fire's impact. The Miami Choral Academy, launched in 2009, was the organization's first K-12 educational program, which was later reimagined as the Seraphic Fire Youth Initiative in 2016. This initiative includes in-school workshops, education concerts, and teaching artist residencies, reaching schools in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Collier counties. In 2022, the organization introduced the High School Masterclass, offering high school choral students the opportunity to learn from Seraphic Fire's artists and conductors. For collegiate-level students aspiring to professional vocal careers, Seraphic Fire has established the Professional Choral Institute in partnership with Aspen Music Festival and School, and the Ensemble Artist Program in partnership with UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music, which expanded to include the University of Miami in 2021. In the fall of 2019, Seraphic Fire unveiled a strategic plan to guide its endeavors toward becoming the exemplar for quality contributions to professional ensemble singing in North America. Under the leadership of founder and artistic director Patrick Dupre Quigley, Seraphic Fire continues to thrive as a beacon of artistic excellence, educational innovation, and community engagement in the world of professional choral music.
