About Fine Arts Chamber Players (FACP) The Fine Arts Chamber Players (FACP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the North Texas community with access to classical music through free concerts and comprehensive music education programs. Founded in 1981 by Rogene Russell and Charles Price, the organization has its roots in collaboration with the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts at Fair Park. Over the years, FACP has become a cornerstone of the Dallas music scene, known for its commitment to accessibility and community engagement. FACP's mission is to enrich and enhance the quality of life for residents of the North Texas area, with a particular focus on families and children. This mission is realized through a series of free musical events and educational initiatives. One of the organization's flagship programs is the Hallam Family Concerts, which offers seven free Saturday concerts throughout the year. Another highlight is the Basically Beethoven Festival, which provides four free concerts on Sundays in July and has been recognized as Dallas' premier summer chamber music festival since its inception in the same year FACP was founded. In addition to public performances, FACP places a strong emphasis on music education, particularly in area schools lacking robust music programs. The organization offers free voice, piano, and violin lessons during the school year, with a goal to foster musical literacy and appreciation among young students. FACP's educational outreach extends to innovative programs such as Dream Collectors, which integrates music with other subjects like dyslexia, character education, math, and science through interactive performances. Other educational endeavors include Music A to Z, Masterclasses, and Music Residencies, all of which are taught by professional teaching artists and comply with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) education mandates set by the State of Texas. Since its establishment, FACP has served over 250,000 children with its education programs and has provided quality classical music experiences to more than 564,000 citizens of North Texas, all free of charge. The organization's efforts have not gone unnoticed; it has received numerous accolades, including the Virginia Nick Arts in Education Award from TACA, the Arts and Education Award from the Dallas Business Committee for the Arts, and the Cultural Achievement Award from the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce, among others. FACP's commitment to financial excellence and educational impact has also been recognized with awards such as the Arts Award for Exemplary Arts Education from the Texas Commission on the Arts and the Financial Excellence in Arts Award from the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs. The organization was honored with the Grace Note Award in 2009 and 2017 by the Irving Philharmonic and was named Agency of the Year by the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program. The Fine Arts Chamber Players continues to be a vital part of the Dallas arts community, supported by the generosity of individuals, state and government grants, and the commitment of its board members and volunteers.
