Sierra Nevada Ballet

Sierra Nevada Ballet (SNB) was founded in March 2001 by Rosine Bena and a group of dedicated dance enthusiasts. Bena had previously initiated dance events at Reno's Wingfield Park in 1995-96. Recognizing a need for quality dance productions and education in northern Nevada, SNB was established with two branches: Performing and Educational. The Performing Branch offers annual professional-level productions, while the Educational Branch includes programs such as the SNB Academy, Apprentice/Trainee Program, and various outreach initiatives. SNB collaborates with numerous regional institutions, including the University of Nevada, Reno, and the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. In 2008, SNB began an affiliation with the American Ballet Theatre (ABT), with Bena becoming one of the first Master Teachers certified in the ABT National Training Curriculum. SNB's performances have been featured in various festivals and collaborations, enhancing the cultural landscape of northern Nevada. The SNB Academy provides professional ballet training using the American Ballet Theatre’s national training curriculum.
