Fine Arts Chamber Players

Dallas, TX, United States

About Fine Arts Chamber Players The Fine Arts Chamber Players (FACP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing classical music and music education to the North Texas community. Established in 1981 by Rogene Russell and Charles Price, the organization was initially formed in collaboration with the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts at Fair Park. FACP is recognized for its commitment to providing free musical performances and educational programs, and it operates as a 501(c)(3) entity, relying on the support of community donations, state, and government grants. One of the FACP's cornerstone events is the annual Basically Beethoven Festival, which began in the same year as the organization's founding. This festival has become a celebrated summer tradition in Dallas, offering four free concerts on Sundays in July. In 1984, when the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts relocated to the downtown Dallas Arts District and became the Dallas Museum of Art, FACP introduced the Bancroft Family Concerts at the museum's Horchow Auditorium. In 2019, this concert series was renamed the Hallam Family Concerts, continuing the tradition of free access while maintaining its artistic vision. FACP's educational outreach initiatives are a significant aspect of its mission. The organization created the Dream Collectors program in 1989, which is a unique troupe of musicians and actors that perform interactive shows integrating various subjects such as dyslexia, character education, math, and science. The success of this program led to the development of further educational offerings, including Music A to Z, Masterclasses, and Music Residencies. These programs provide professional instruction in piano, violin, and voice, and are designed to be compliant with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) educational standards. All educational programs are offered at no cost to students and schools, particularly benefiting those without robust music programs. Throughout its history, FACP has made a substantial impact on the community, serving over 250,000 children with education programs and performing for more than 564,000 citizens across North Texas, all free of charge. The organization's commitment to financial and educational excellence has been recognized with several awards, including the Virginia Nick Arts in Education Award from TACA, the Arts and Education Award from the Dallas Business Committee for the Arts, the Cultural Achievement Award from the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce, and the Arts Award for Exemplary Arts Education from the Texas Commission on the Arts. Additionally, FACP has received the Financial Excellence in Arts Award from the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and the Grace Note Award from the Irving Philharmonic in both 2009 and 2017. For those interested in supporting or getting involved with the Fine Arts Chamber Players, the organization encourages community members to get in touch through their website.
