Ballet West Unveils Creative Brilliance: A Dance Celebration

In an enchanting world of song and dance, the adventurous Tinkerbell meets up with the fairies from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Together, the cheeky Mustardseed, fluttery Moth, daring Cobweb and sweet Peaseblossom go on a magical quest with Tinkerbell. The audience is invited to dress up and join in the fun! Come as a fairy, an elf, a Jedi, a pirate or even a superhero! Everyone is welcome to join this sparkling adventure with a special visit to 'Bubble Land' to help Tinkerbell and her new fairy friends find her lost wings. Journey through the Spanish countryside as we celebrate the culmination of 2024-2025 school year. Featuring our youngest dancers from the Beginning and Elementary Divisions, along with Movement Mentor students and their Ballet West Academy student mentors, A Spanish Tale will showcase the students’ hard work and all they have learned this year.

The Frederick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy’s Salt Lake City Campuses are proud to present the Don Quixote Suite with George Balanchine’s Symphony in C, featuring dancers from Ballet West II. Students from the Student, Professional Training, and Trainee Divisions will bring to life an abridged version of the classic Don Quixote based on the adventures and characters in Miguel de Cervantes’ novel of the same title and the dazzling, technically demanding masterpiece Symphony in C, first created for the Paris Opera Ballet, to celebrate the culmination of the 2024-2025 school year.

The ballet's vibrant costumes, stunning sets, and exquisite dancing create a visual and auditory feast that captures the spirit of the season. Celebrating its 80th anniversary, this production remains as fresh and joyous as ever, offering a rare opportunity to witness a masterpiece that has defined generations. Ballet West presents "Pictures at an Exhibition," a captivating triple-bill that showcases the brilliance of contemporary ballet through the works of three renowned choreographers. This performance features George Balanchine's "Serenade," a heart-melting ballet set to the enchanting music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The program continues with Alexei Ratmansky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," an intimate suite of dances inspired by Modest Mussorgsky's evocative piano compositions, performed live by Dr. Vera Oussetskaia-Watanabe. The evening culminates with Christopher Wheeldon's "Within the Golden Hour," a ballet that draws inspiration from Vivaldi, with music by Ezio Bosso. This trio of ballets promises a mesmerizing experience, blending classical and contemporary elements to create a rich tapestry of movement and music. The live accompaniment by the Ballet West Orchestra adds an additional layer of depth and emotion to the performance, making it a must-see for ballet enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

Ballet West presents a captivating new production of "Jekyll & Hyde," a full-length ballet inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson's 19th-century novella. This performance delves into the dark and complex duality of human nature, exploring the psychological struggle between the virtuous Dr. Jekyll and his malevolent alter ego, Mr. Hyde. Choreographed by Val Caniparoli, the ballet features an evocative score composed by Frédéric Chopin, Henryk Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Henryk Wieniawski, performed live by the Ballet West Orchestra. Following the success of last year's "Dracula," this production promises to be equally gripping, offering a dynamic and nightmarish portrayal of one of literature's most iconic characters. The performance is noted for its strong adult content, making it a compelling choice for those interested in a more mature and psychologically intense ballet experience.

Jekyll & Hyde

Ballet West’s sixth Choreographic Festival is bringing several international guest companies to the stage with new choreography and diverse Asian voices. A world premiere creation for Ballet West by the emerging choreographers Zhongjing Fang and Caili Quan, alongside new works by several visiting organizations for a memorable program of dance in the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

An enchanted ballet designed for children of all ages! The Ballet West Family Series presents Beauty and the Beast with full sets, costumes, and a story that runs just over an hour. With the help of narration during the performance, this classic fairy tale gives children and their families an opportunity to appreciate the unique combination of art, music, movement and storytelling.

Swan Lake is brought to life by gorgeous costumes that Taylor Swift rented for her Shake it Off Music video! Swan Lake is the epitome of ballet with elegant ballerinas, chivalrous princes, and heart-wrenching music by Tchaikovsky, performed live by the Ballet West Orchestra.

Sir Frederick Ashton's world-renowned production of Cinderella is a lavish and extravagant telling of the classic fairytale, with comedic twists and turns FEATURING NEW SETS AND COSTUMES, from London's Royal Ballet, never before seen in Utah. This production is a treat for the entire family.

Mysterious and spooky, powerful and dramatic with flying vampires and pyrotechnics! The dark and brooding Dracula is surrounded by his corps of brides and hungering for more blood. This ballet sinks its teeth into intricate choreography as the dark tale unfolds, set to the ominous music of Franz Liszt. Come see why this ballet version of Dracula is becoming a Utah favorite!
