ALIAS Chamber Ensemble

ALIAS Chamber Ensemble is a distinguished musical organization with a rich performance history that spans multiple seasons, each marked by a series of concerts and events showcasing a diverse repertoire. The ensemble's activities are organized into three main categories: Who We Are, What We Do, and How To Help. Under the "Who We Are" section, ALIAS Chamber Ensemble comprises a group of dedicated musicians, a governing board, a staff team, and a network of supporters. These individuals work together to fulfill the ensemble's mission and ensure the smooth operation of its events and initiatives. The "What We Do" section highlights the ensemble's mission, which is centered around the performance of chamber music. The organization hosts a variety of events, including the concert series known as "ALIAS Live," which serves as a platform for live musical performances. Additionally, the ensemble engages with its audience and the broader community through various contact points. To sustain its operations and further its mission, ALIAS Chamber Ensemble encourages public support through its "How To Help" section. This includes options for purchasing items from their shop, providing financial support, and making donations. The ensemble also emphasizes the importance of arts advocacy, urging the community to support the arts through various means. The ensemble's performance history is extensive, with each season featuring a range of works from classical to contemporary composers. The 2021-2022 season, for instance, included performances at Second Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Eastwood Christian Church, featuring compositions by Montgomery, Piazzolla, Schubert, Shostakovich, Snider, Ravel, Brahms, and Debussy, among others. The previous season (2020-2021) was adapted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with virtual concerts that included works by Daughtrey, Martín, Fanny Mendelssohn, Price, Spinei, Coleman, Harberg, Lowry, and Mahler. Despite the challenges, the ensemble continued to share music with their audience in a safe and accessible format. In the 2019-2020 season, the ensemble performed at venues such as the W.O. Smith Music School and the Blair School of Music, featuring works by a range of composers, including Timo Andres, Jacob Beranek, David Ludwig, Si Hyun Uhm, and a world premiere by Dave Ragland with the Emmy-Nominated Inversion Vocal Ensemble. This season was also shortened due to the pandemic. The ensemble's history of performances also includes notable collaborations, such as with the Nashville Ballet and Vox Grata, and participation in events like the Classical Music Day Nashville. Their repertoire covers a wide spectrum of musical periods and styles, from Baroque to modern, and often includes world premieres from local composers, demonstrating their commitment to promoting new music and local talent. Throughout its seasons, ALIAS Chamber Ensemble has consistently presented a blend of well-known masterpieces and lesser-known gems, providing audiences with a rich and varied listening experience. The ensemble's dedication to musical excellence and community engagement has established it as a vital part of the cultural landscape.
