Johann Sebastian Bach had 20 children! Hear Bach’s influence on his son Carl Phillip Emmanuel Bach. The bass flute makes a rare appearance in a memorable work by David Bruce. Goddess-inspired Persephone by ICA favorite Jim Stephenson features 13 players on an exploratory search for what “might have happened” before Copland’s iconic Appalachian Spring.

Like father, like son-in-law, both are Czech and both wrote piano quintets. A major talent, Suk’s quintet is fiery, lyrical, and heavenly, while Dvořák’s Piano Quintet, Op. 81 is the best in the genre. A perfect concert to celebrate Czech Independence Day!​​

ICA's commissioned comic chamber opera by James M. Stephenson and Matt Boresi will be unveiled at this much anticipated world premiere event! If the world has you down, then this little comic opera will uplift you. Inspired by a true story, when a shipwrecked princess appears outside a sleepy manor home, her mystery and glamour turns high society on its head. This romantic comedy examines our fixation with celebrity as one woman seeks to creatively cast off the fetters the world has placed upon her.

Piazzolla presents us a musical evolution of the tango in four evocative movements. Writing music that would give pleasure to an audience on first hearing was Damase's main compositional aim. Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel's Piano Trio is decidedly music written by a master pianist. ​

Sign up for a new ICA concert endeavor, “ICA Steinway Soiree,” an intimate house concert at the Godon’s beautiful new Lake Bluff home featuring Patrick and ICA musicians. This will be an extremely limited event (20 people) and will provide an incredible chance to hear these world class musicians in a casual, intimate environment. Delectable heavy appetizers are on the menu, along with an exquisite dessert and wine. $125 per person.

ICA Steinway Soiree

This concert features newest ICA members Sarah Carrillo, Principal Trumpet of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, and Oto Carrillo, horn player in the legendary Chicago Symphony Orchestra! In Joan Tower's Copperwave, the brass instruments interweave and surge through wavelike patterns. Chicago composer Stacy Garrop's Legends of Olympus depicts five Greek gods in a colorful story that highlights each brass instrument. One of America's greatest composers, Amy Beach's late Romantic Piano Quintet is dreamy and sensuous, crafted thoroughly well.

This program is all about women composers, presented by the ICA Brass Quintet. You'll experience music by Chicago composer Stacy Garrop, Cait Nishimura, and Florence Price. This concert is most appropriate for children ages 8 and up.

Educational Concert

What better way to celebrate the season than with live chamber music! Hear the Swingin' Nutcracker arranged for piano trio. A sure way to lift your spirits. Klughardt wrote his Schilflieder (Reed Songs) in the Romantic spirit of Franz Liszt. Clara Schumann was the most famous woman pianist of her century and a highly gifted composer. Her charming style displays interesting rhythms and fresh modulations.

Join the ICA Brass Quintet for a fun outdoor concert at the Lake Bluff, IL Gazebo with music of the silver screen and the golden lights of Broadway! The amazing performers are Sarah Carrillo and Mike Brozick, trumpets; Oto Carrillo, horn; Stephanie Lebens, trombone; and Sean Whitaker, tuba. Pack a picnic dinner and we'll bring you great music!

Grace United Methodist Church

This concert features three women composers. Valerie Coleman's work was inspired by her travels to a European jazz nightclub. Louise Farrenc, a piano prodigy, wrote this virtuosic piano quintet for the same instrumentation as the Schubert Trout Quintet, adding a double bass into the mix. Gwyneth Walker's Three Songs reflect the lyrical and romantic aspects of E. E. Cummings's writing. The program ends with the stunning and hauntingly beautiful last work of Strauss about the end of days. Cliff Colnot created this new arrangement especially for this world premiere ICA performance.

This family friendly 30-minute concert program is a perfect tribute to President’s Day. Featuring a cast of characters played by ICA Brass Quintet, inspiring presidential stories will be accompanied by rousing patriotic favorites.

Love is in the air for this program laced with romance. Turina’s Scene Andalouse is luxurious and playful, while Morris’s Four Personalities explores the expressive side of the relationship between colors. “My loving wife Clara and I invite you to hear her six songs, beautifully sung through the voice of the oboe. I wrote my contrasting and vigorous Piano Quintet in a fit of inspiration for my virtuoso wife to premiere.”

Spoiled by this local father-daughter treasure, Maddie’s style is emotional, sophisticated, and forward-thinking, while Jim is one of the more versatile composers living today. In the Martinů, La Revue de Cuisine, kitchen dishes and utensils come to life in a stunning Bohemian ballet. This celebratory concert will include a family style sit down dinner.
