The Central Vermont Chamber Music Festival (CVCMF), founded in 1993 by New York cellist Peter Sanders, is a celebrated annual music event held in Randolph, Vermont. Sanders, who spent his summers in the Randolph area, initiated the festival to bring world-class chamber music to the Chandler Center for the Arts, a venue he felt was underutilized. The festival's inaugural season was met with critical acclaim, leading to the establishment of CVCMF as a not-for-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status in early 1994. Over the years, the festival has expanded its offerings to include a variety of concerts featuring chamber music performances, children's concerts, radio performances, and open rehearsals. The festival also engages in community outreach, with musicians performing at local schools and spring concerts held at the Three Stallion Inn in Randolph. In 2005, CVCMF released its first highlight CD, "Festival Harvest," showcasing live performances from the 2000 and 2004 seasons. The festival has grown from a family-run event to a community-supported institution, contributing significantly to Vermont's summer music scene and drawing audiences from across the Northeast.
