The program begins with Mizzy Mazzoli’s “Violent, Violent Sea,” a work for chamber orchestra that explores the juxtaposition of dark and light that the sea can evoke in our senses. Explore urban ornithology in the city of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico in Angélica Negrón’s “Lanzarse.” Keep things local with Washington Heights composer Paul Brantley’s musical love letter to Fort Tryon Park: “Linden Terrace” with Washington Heights internationally acclaimed soprano Jennifer Zetlan as soloist. Our program concludes with Aaron Copland’s iconic “Appalachian Spring.” Originally a composed for ballet, many themes of this well-known work have come to be synonymous with depicting the sights and sounds of Americana.

Fort Washington Collegiate Church

Celebrate Earth Month at the Fort Washington Green! From 3-5 on Sunday April 14th come to the Fort Washington Green for gardening activities, arts and crafts, and of course our Storytime at the Symphony performance at 4:15pm. Also, from 12-3pm is family game day at FWCC so come early for basketball and board games!
