Amusing identity farce from the Italian period of Marcos Portugal, "Le donne cambiate" (The Changed Ladies) premiered in Venice in 1797, where it had over 52 performances. The opera achieved significant success in its time, being performed in Paris, London, Madrid, Dresden, and Lisbon at the São Carlos Theatre (1804). Additionally, there was an undated performance in Rio de Janeiro, likely before the return of the Portuguese court to Lisbon in 1821.
