Levine Music, established in 1976 in memory of Selma M. Levine, a distinguished Washington attorney and amateur pianist, has evolved into one of the premier community music schools in the United States. It was founded by Diana Engel, Ruth Cogen, and Jaclin Marlin in the basement of a small church. Today, Levine Music stands out as the only All-Steinway community music school worldwide and boasts accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music. It also holds certification from the National Guild for Community Arts Education, recognizing its adherence to the highest standards of excellence and access in community arts education. With a mission to inspire love for music across the National Capital Region, Levine Music offers a diverse range of programs, including individualized instruction, music therapy, and various group classes for students of all ages, abilities, and interests. Its core values of excellence and opportunity are evident through its extensive scholarship assistance and free community partnership initiatives. Levine encourages musical discovery and expression through its distinguished faculty, diverse musical activities, and performance opportunities, including master classes, faculty performances, student recitals, and competitions.
