Four great names, four great voices of Celtic music come together to perform the most intense melodies from their respective cultures, from Ireland to Galicia. "Yule," named after the pagan celebration of the winter solstice, delves into the heart of lands of contrasts, legendary places still carrying traditions to this day, thanks to the voices and instruments of these regions (harp, flute, carnyx, violin, or bagpipes). A journey that invites you deep into the heart of Celtic heritage.

For its third edition, the Symphokids festival pulls out all the stops by creating a new day of celebration for children aged 3 to 10. On the program are original musical shows that bring the magic of the grand symphony orchestra to life! Share festive and playful concerts with your family, tailored to each age group and created with the collaboration of experienced artists from various backgrounds. In parallel, there are educational workshops to introduce children to the world of the orchestra, entertainment, dining options, and some surprises that will make this day unforgettable for families. A festival designed by the educational team of the OPRL, which demonstrates boundless creativity for the delight of children and their (grand)parents.

Symphokids 2024 : Young Public Festival

After "The Firebird" (2019) and "Mahler, the Echo of a Life" (2022), Lucas van Woerkum now turns his attention to Holst's "The Planets," a grand galactic epic that reflects the composer's fascination with space and astrology. For this new film, in which the tempos are perfectly synchronized with the performance by the OPRL musicians, the filmmaker has crafted a story that revisits the profound questions of humanity. The photographer Lucia, portrayed by the great Emma Thompson, is contacted from the beyond by her late husband Bruce (actor Greg Wise, known for "The Crown"). The mystery of life after death is depicted in the sumptuous and meticulous aesthetic typical of the Dutch artist.

OPRL Symphonic Cinema : The Planets

Fazil Say, one of the most brilliant and original pianists on the international scene and a faithful guest of the Salle Philharmonique, once again bridges the gap between East and West. In this recital, he presents the best of his own compositions, an inner journey infused with the scents of Istanbul, while venturing into the works of Bach, Haydn, and Beethoven—three giants who have been part of his career for decades. His electrifying, volcanic interpretation, with elements of jazz, will resonate like a grand ritual.

Fazil Say - Piano recital

Born in Hamburg in 1824 (200 years ago!), Reinecke had a precocious start as a piano prodigy. He associated with the greatest composers of his time, including Schumann, Mendelssohn, Liszt, and Brahms. He enjoyed a brilliant career in Leipzig as a conductor, piano teacher, and composer. Reinecke also attracted promising students like Grieg, Janáček, Albéniz, and Bruch. The musicians of the OPRL (Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège) are paying tribute to this master of German Romanticism, particularly recognizing his significant contributions to wind instruments.

The 2024 Queen Elisabeth Competition for the violin is an event dedicated to the violin and is highly anticipated in the Belgian music scene. The OPRL (Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège) will have the honor of accompanying the top three laureates of the competition. The performance will be conducted by the young Portuguese conductor Nuno Coelho, a rising star in the world of classical music, who has worked as an assistant conductor with renowned maestros like Bernard Haitink and Gustavo Dudamel.
