Warren Symphony Orchestra

Warren, MI, United States

The Warren Symphony Orchestra (WSO), founded in 1972 as the Warren Symphony Society, Inc., has been a prominent cultural institution in Michigan for nearly five decades. The orchestra's inaugural season was in 1973-1974, and it has since performed hundreds of concerts across Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties. Recognized for its contributions to the Detroit area's cultural life, the WSO has been named Outstanding Community Orchestra seven times at the Detroit Music Awards. The orchestra was known as the Motor City Symphony Orchestra from 2014 to 2019. WSO is notable for being the only entirely professional community orchestra in Macomb County. In 2018, Gina Provenzano was appointed as Music Director and Conductor. The orchestra performs at various venues, including the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts and the Warren Consolidated Performing Arts Center. Additionally, the WSO reaches approximately 2,000 elementary students annually through its educational Youth Concerts. The organization's mission is to support and advance a professional-quality orchestra for cultural enrichment, entertainment, and youth education.
