Art Lewis joins the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra to narrate Copland’s Lincoln Portrait in a concert comprised entirely of music from American composers, featuring Rouse’s Symphony No. 1, painter Valerie Allen painting live alongside the orchestra for Michael Toke’s pieces Green and Bright Blue Music, and the Michigan Premiere of local pianist Catherine McMichael’s Celestial Navigation. The Philadelphia-based group consists of six veteran musicians intent on delivering Led Zeppelin live, like you’ve never heard before. Utilizing the multi-instrumentalists at their disposal, GTLO re-create the songs in all their depth and glory with the studio overdubs that Zeppelin themselves never performed. A tribute to the victims of the Kosovo Conflict of 1998-99, Karl Jenkins’ composition “The Armed Man” draws inspiration from the 15th-century French melody, “L’homme armé”. This powerful musical piece combines elements of the traditional Mass text with secular text to convey a poignant narrative of the descent into war and its devastating aftermath.
“The Armed Man” depicts the mounting threat of war while incorporating moments of introspection. It vividly portrays the horrors inflicted by war and concludes with a glimmer of hope for peace in the new millennium, envisioning a world where sorrow, pain, and death can be overcome.

For two decades now, Greensky Bluegrass have been building an empire, brick by brick.  They are widely known for their dazzling live performances and relentless touring schedule, but that is only the tip of the complex tale of the five musicians that make up Greensky Bluegrass: Anders Beck [dobro], Michael Arlen Bont [banjo], Dave Bruzza [guitar], Mike Devol [upright bass], and Paul Hoffman [Mandolin].  The five are connected through a deep bond, just as they are seasoned road warriors, they’re a band of brothers who have seen each other through decades of ups and downs, personal and collective highlights, and the moments when life turns it all upside down. These are real people having real experiences. As with traditional bluegrass, they write about their own contemporary day-to-day happenings, emotions, and experiences in the modern world.

Classical Arts Entertainment presents the ballet fairy tale “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” in two acts with one intermission.

There are fairy tales that inspire creators to create performances in different genres and directions. One of these was the favorite fairy tale of the Brothers Grimm, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” This time, the fairy tale comes to life in dance and staging by the State Ballet Theater of Ukraine. Our ballet is a story about love, friendship, witchcraft, and the eternal struggle between good and evil.

Over the course of his forty-year career, Platinum-selling and GRAMMY-nominated singer & actor Chris Isaak has performed to sold-out crowds across the globe with his longtime band Silvertone. Take your Holiday all the way on Tuesday December 10th as the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra rings in the holiday season by celebrating with a beloved local band, Brush Street, featuring Mike Brush and original Christmas music alongside beloved back-to-back holiday classics. It isn’t truly the holiday season until you celebrate with Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra.

SBSO: Holiday All the Way

Take a journey through the dark and mysterious forest of classical music with Symphonie Fantastique, featuring world famous harpist Jaymee Haefner. Begin the evening with Wagner’s Rienzi Overture, followed by Jaymee Haefner joining us on the Temple Theatre stage with her harp to play Ginastera’s Harp Concerto. Lastly, we end the evening with Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, a beautiful and dark musical dive into a brilliant and poisoned mind. Music programming subject to change.

A legendary instrument and world class virtuoso violinist return to Saginaw to perform at The Temple Theatre in Return of The Red Violin, featuring special guest Elizabeth Pitcairn and the legendary ‘Red Mendelssohn’ Stradivarius violin, one of the most valuable violins on the planet. We begin the evening with Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, before Elizabeth Pitcairn takes the stage with the ‘Red Mendelssohn’ Stradivarius to play Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto op. 64 with our orchestra. We finish the evening with a timeless and powerful classic, Bruckner’s Symphony No. 1.
