Synchromy is a Los Angeles-based musician’s collective renowned for producing innovative new music events that reflect and are influenced by the diverse cultural tapestry of their home county. Established with a mission to prioritize collaboration, Synchromy presents avant-garde music through an interdisciplinary approach, seamlessly integrating other art forms to enhance the audience's engagement and deepen their understanding of the music's intended impact. The collective's programming is characterized by its directors' extensive range of knowledge, experience, and expertise, which collectively contribute to creating profound experiences for both the audience and performers. Synchromy's unique events are not just concerts but immersive experiences that invite the audience to connect with contemporary music on a personal level, weaving it into the narratives of their lives. Leading the team at Synchromy is Executive Director Elizabeth Huston, who brings a dedication to fostering accessibility and appreciation for contemporary music. As a trained harpist, Huston has a history of expanding the repertoire for her instrument and supporting emerging composers. Her work is informed by her observations of audience responses across various artistic mediums, from theater and dance to performance art and visual art. Associate Director Jason Barabba is a composer whose work has been celebrated for its meditative qualities and has been performed by a wide array of musicians. Barabba's compositions have been featured on several commercial recordings, and he brings a wealth of experience from his studies in music composition at prestigious institutions. Artistic Director Vera Ivanova, originally from Russia, is a composer based in Los Angeles and Orange County. She has an impressive educational background and has received accolades from numerous scholarships and awards. Her works have been performed globally and released on multiple CDs. Ethan Braun, another Artistic Director at Synchromy, is an LA-based composer whose music has been described as ethereal and has been commissioned by various ensembles and orchestras. He has also penned theses on spirituality in music and aesthetics and has presented on pedagogy at academic institutions. Dante De Silva, also an Artistic Director, is a Los Angeles-based composer with degrees from UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, and Humboldt State University. His works have been premiered by various artists, and his string quartet "Hungry" is the 2019 winner of the American Prize in instrumental chamber music. Juhi Bansal, completing the team of Artistic Directors, is known for her radiant and transcendent music that celebrates cultural diversity, nature, and female role models. Her work incorporates elements from various musical traditions and has been commissioned by prestigious organizations like the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and Los Angeles Opera. Synchromy's Board of Directors includes Jason Barabba, Scott Graff, Tom Flaherty, David García Saldaña, Ann Noriel, and Aaron Reihs, who collectively guide the organization's vision and ensure its continued success. In addition to their regular programming, Synchromy hosts special events such as the "Synchromy Walkabout" with the Argus Quartet, where they present a program of music from composers inspired by their surroundings.
