Wolf Trap is a renowned performing arts organization located in the Washington, D.C. area, known for its diverse and innovative programs that enrich, educate, and entertain audiences. Founded in 1966 through the philanthropy of Catherine Filene Shouse, who donated the land and funds to build the Filene Center, Wolf Trap was designated by Congress as Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. For over half a century, it has fulfilled Shouse's vision, becoming a staple in the national performing arts community. The organization is led by CEO and President Arvind Manocha, with Daniel A. D'Aniello serving as the Chairman of the board. Wolf Trap Foundation, a private non-profit entity, partners with the National Park Service, which manages the 117-acre park grounds, to provide a unique blend of arts and nature. Wolf Trap's venues include the Filene Center, known for its summer festival that features more than 80 performances annually across various genres, The Barns at Wolf Trap, which offers an intimate setting for performances, and the Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods, which caters to young audiences. Additionally, the Center for Education at Wolf Trap provides arts education programs that reach children, families, caregivers, and teachers nationwide. Wolf Trap Opera is recognized for its prestigious residency program for young singers, and many of its alumni have gone on to perform at leading opera houses around the world. The organization also extends its reach through the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, which integrates arts-based teaching methods to enhance early childhood education. Wolf Trap is a place for everyone, from summer arts lovers to families, opera aficionados, year-round concert-goers, young learners, interns preparing for careers in the arts, tourists, and the local community.
