Always…Patsy Cline is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. The musical play, complete with down-home country humor, sincere emotion, and a heart-warming look at a special friendship, includes many of Patsy’s unforgettable hits such as “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “Walking After Midnight”…27 songs in all.  The show’s title was inspired by Cline’s letters to Seger, which were consistently signed “Love ALWAYS… Patsy Cline.”

It’s 1955, and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who shakes up everything and everyone he meets. While the mayor of the town has imposed a law that prohibits loud music, public necking, and tight pants, the townspeople begin to step out of their humdrum lives to dare to experience something more. A jukebox musical loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and other works, this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”

Legend tells the tale of The Landsharks performing at a Key West, Florida concert, when Jimmy Buffett made a surprise visit and asked if he could perform with the band. After performing for the first time with The Landsharks, he liked the band so much that he hired them “on the spot” to be the house band for his brand new Margaritaville Café at Universal Studios, Florida, and had them join him at the grand opening. Afterward, Jimmy Buffett proclaimed, “I like that band, They’re showmen; they’re fun!” In a Radio Margaritaville interview, Buffett also said, “The funny thing was, The Landsharks knew the songs better than I did.”

In His Name…We Dance! returns to the Garden Theatre this December. Come take a “Walk through Bethlehem” with the CDPA Performing Ensemble in a contemporary journey through the Christmas Story in dance. The CDPA Performing Ensemble is the youth dance ensemble of The Centre for Dance & the Performing Arts. Under the direction of Dr. Kathryn White Austin, this production has been a part of Central Florida holiday traditions for 29 years.

The Ballards, Lessy Boy and Curleen, welcome family and friends into their Appalachian mountain home to celebrate Christmas Day. In the midst of the Great Depression, they have no gifts to exchange, but instead, they share their love of Appalachian hymns and carols. Unexpectedly, the Ballard’s son who’d left the fold to escape a certain fate in the coal mines returns to make amends with his parents. With him is his very-soon-to-be-a-mother wife. Though Curleen seems incapable of negotiating a peaceful reconciliation with her son, a Christmas miracle opens up a new possibility of forgiveness. Moonshine & Mistletoe is a musical valentine to a bygone era and is a wholesome holiday theatrical event for the entire family.
