About McCaw Hall McCaw Hall, located at Seattle Center, stands as the region's premier performance venue and a cultural and architectural landmark. This prestigious hall is home to the Pacific Northwest Ballet and Seattle Opera, two world-class resident performing arts tenants. The hall's inception was a result of a collaborative effort involving these tenants, Seattle Center, and the Seattle Center Foundation. The transformation into McCaw Hall was completed in June 2003, following a $127 million renovation of the former Seattle Opera House. This significant upgrade was funded through a combination of $55 million in public funds and over $72 million in private philanthropic donations. Owned by the City of Seattle and operated by Seattle Center, McCaw Hall operates under a unique 25-year Operating Agreement that grants the resident tenants shared responsibility and oversight of its operations and budget. The hall features the Susan Brotman Auditorium, a state-of-the-art venue with a seating capacity of 2,900, and the Nesholm Family Lecture Hall, which can accommodate 380 attendees. Additional facilities include the Prelude Café, elegant lobbies with a striking five-story serpentine glass wall, donor/special function rooms, and the Kreielsheimer Promenade—a 17,800-square-foot public plaza that welcomes visitors to McCaw Hall and the broader Seattle Center campus. The architectural design of McCaw Hall, crafted by the local firm LMN, is a testament to elegance, flexibility, and functionality. The design aims to reduce the barrier between the exterior and interior, encouraging community engagement and participation in the excitement that builds before performances. The hall also incorporates sustainable design features to minimize resource consumption, waste generation, and its overall carbon footprint. Throughout the year, the Pacific Northwest Ballet and Seattle Opera present approximately 150 performances at McCaw Hall. Beyond these performances, the hall is a versatile venue hosting a variety of events, including popular music concerts, lectures, corporate meetings, receptions, weddings, festival performances, and events for community and non-profit organizations. McCaw Hall's vision is to be recognized as the Pacific Northwest's premier performing arts venue, an architectural and cultural beacon celebrated for its world-class ballet and opera, its beautiful and functional facilities, and its exceptional service that compels clients and patrons to return. The mission of McCaw Hall is to support the endeavors of Seattle Center and its partners, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Seattle Opera. This mission is pursued with a passion for the arts, pride in the hall's spectacular architecture, and a firm commitment to its role as a steward of this significant public asset. The hall's management focuses on providing a welcoming, efficient, safe, and well-maintained environment for partners to create and present their work, and for clients to host their events. Moreover, the hall's team is dedicated to ensuring a memorable experience for every patron, managing resources with professionalism and creativity, and securing a diverse range of events to maximize usage, community service, and revenue.
