The TSO will present Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert featuring a screening of the complete film with composer John Williams’ iconic Oscar®-winning score performed live to the film.

A young farm boy, Luke Skywalker, is thrust into a galaxy of adventure when he intercepts a distress call from the captive Princess Leia. The event launches him on a daring mission to rescue her from the clutches of Darth Vader and the evil Empire.

​Norm Lewis is a Tony Award nominated American actor and baritone singer. He has appeared in Europe, on Broadway, in film, television, recordings and regional theatre.

Joseph Joubert is a hugely versatile musician whose wide-ranging accomplishments and talent as a pianist, arranger, orchestrator, Broadway conductor, and music director have taken him around the world.

Cheyenne Cruz’s playing has been described as “above and beyond the mastery of [her] instrument" and her compositions as “playful, full of humor and whimsy, almost filling the air with laughter”. She is the second clarinetist in the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, bass clarinetist in the Longview Symphony Orchestra, and bass clarinetist in the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Cruz also composes and plays amplified bass clarinet and flute in WoodWired, an electroacoustic duo which uses looping software and other live electronics to create spellbinding performances.

Jorge Cruz is the principal bassoonist of the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra and second bassoonist/contrabassoonist of the Abilene Philharmonic. He also regularly performs with the Dallas Opera Orchestra and the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Jorge’s serves as bassoonist/saxophonist with the Air National Guard Band of the Southwest, historically known as the 531st Air Force Band, a position he has held since 2001.

Transfigured Night

Violinist Sharon Roffman, prizewinner in the 2003 Naumburg Foundation International Competition, made her solo debut with the New Jersey Symphony in 1996. Since then, Ms. Roffman has forged a unique career distinguished by her versatility; she is equally sought after as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral leader and music educator.

Performances of pianist Tatiana Roitman Mann have been recognized by the BBC as “formidable…both accurate and with rarely seen joy.” Tatiana has appeared as a soloist and recitalist across North America and Europe.

A Flair for the Dramatic

Heralded as “the next accordion star,” Julien Labro has established himself as the foremost accordion and bandoneón player in both the classical and jazz genres. Deemed to be “a triple threat: brilliant technician, poetic melodist and cunning arranger,” his artistry, virtuosity, and creativity as a musician, composer and arranger have earned him international acclaim and continue to astonish audiences worldwide.

Passionate Devotion

A native of Bulgaria, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State Academy of Music in Sofia and a Master's degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he studied with Prof. Michael Barta. Laskarov has appeared as a soloist with the Arkansas Symphony, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Conway (AR) Symphony, Southern Illinois Symphony, Abilene (TX) Philharmonic, Symphony Irvine (CA) and Texarkana (TX) Symphony and also as a concertmaster with the Monroe (LA) Symphony and McCall (ID) Festival Orchestra and assistant concertmaster with the Evansville (IN) Philharmonic and Scottsdale (AZ) MusicFest Orchestra.
