French Impressionism evokes images of delightfully painted Parisian cityscapes and the rural settings of the French countryside. Similarly, the extraordinary musicians of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra bring you the sweet sounds of French chamber music, featuring the Ravel Piano Trio plus a selection of Preludes and other solo piano favorites by Debussy, including “Clair de lune.” The intimacy of the White House ballroom is the perfect setting for this concert!

Violins of Hope is not only a memorial to lost culture and people, it is also an educational program that reaches young students and adults of all faiths and backgrounds. In recent years orchestras around the world have held Violins of Hope concerts. They tell the history of some of the instruments – such as the violin which was thrown out of a cattle train on the way from France to Auschwitz; the violin that was buried under the snow in Holland to save it; the violin that saved lives of people who played in camp orchestras and survived, and many more stories.

As the Conducting Fellow of the New World Symphony, Goodman conducts on subscription, education, family and holiday programs. His program, “SPARK: How Composers Find Inspiration,” blended captivating light design and videography with engaging audience participation to explore how a composition is created and brought to life by an orchestra.

Sounds of the Seasons: Winter

Andrew Crust has developed a versatile international career as a conductor of orchestral, opera, ballet and pops programs. Currently serving as the Associate Conductor of the Vancouver Symphony in Canada, Andrew conducts a large number of subscription, pops, educational, and contemporary concerts with the VSO each season. In his second season as Music Director of the Lima Symphony, Andrew programs and conducts the Grand Classics, Pops, and Educational series and has led collaborations with soloists such as Amit Peled, Awadagin Pratt and Laquita Mitchell.

 A passion-filled, energetic celebration of Latin American orchestral hits paired with the firework performances of acclaimed Costa Rican trumpeter José Sibaja and vocalist Mónica Abrego. Sibaja, who is lead trumpet of the renowned Boston Brass, has recorded with such artists as Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Celia Cruz and has performed on television at the MTV awards, Grammy Awards, and Saturday Night Live, among many others. Featuring “Bésame mucho,” “Estrellita,” popular selections from Carmen, and other Latin American favorites.
