Galli Theater New York

New York City, NY, United States

About Galli Theater New York Galli Theater New York is a vibrant cultural institution that forms part of the Galli Group, a global umbrella organization with a presence in nine countries. The Galli Group was founded by Johannes Galli, a philosopher, actor, and playwright, who also developed The Galli Method. This method is centered around the concept of "Die Sieben Kellerkinder" or "The Seven Cellar Kids," which serves as the foundation for the group's theatrical and educational endeavors. The Galli Theater New York has a mission to celebrate childhood and communicate important social issues through modern adaptations of fairy tales from around the world. The theater's productions are known for their symbolic content and their ability to convey wisdom that resonates with contemporary society. The Galli Theater's approach is designed to awaken liveliness in both audiences and actors, encouraging the revelation of the genuine self and one's inner vision and power. Annually, the Galli Theater New York reaches approximately 24,000 people through its mainstage productions and engages 4,500 students in workshops and classes. The theater is recognized as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, committed to its educational and charitable programs. The theater's repertoire includes 10 to 14 modern and innovative adaptations of fairy tales each year, aimed at entertaining audiences and imparting valuable life lessons. Additionally, the Galli Theater produces around five plays for adults and educational shows for children and young adults. A hallmark of Galli's production style is the incorporation of interactive elements and improvisation. Performances are currently offered in English, German, and Spanish to cater to a diverse audience. In terms of training and coaching, Galli Theater New York provides a variety of classes, workshops, and camps throughout the year for both children and adults. These programs are designed to help participants gain self-confidence, overcome personal barriers, learn new languages and cultures, enhance acting skills, and promote health and wellness. Scholarships are available upon application, and The Galli Method is utilized for training purposes. The Dr. Fairytale Program is another significant initiative of the Galli Theater, which brings plays and stories to seriously ill children in hospitals and supports organizations working with emotionally challenged children around the world. The Galli Theater New York is overseen by a Board of Directors, including Vice President Dr. Carl Krapp, Treasurer Irina Dragulev of Pfizer, Secretary Barbara Remus, PhD., along with members Miryam Kogan and Issayas Tesfai from the Corcoran Group.
