Left Coast Chamber Ensemble

San Francisco, CA, United States

The Left Coast Chamber Ensemble (LCCE) is a distinguished group of musicians based in the San Francisco Bay Area, renowned for their dynamic performances of classical music across a broad spectrum. Founded in 1992, the ensemble consists of 16 dedicated musicians who share a commitment to artistic excellence, inclusivity, service, curiosity, and advocacy. Celebrating its 30th season, LCCE has become a staple in the Bay Area's vibrant music scene, known for its innovative programming and dedication to new music. LCCE's mission is to present classical music in a way that resonates with contemporary audiences, fostering a dialogue between new compositions and historical masterpieces. Their concert series is well-regarded for its thematic approach, often juxtaposing music from different eras to highlight the continuity and evolution of musical expression. The ensemble's commitment to showcasing the music of our time is evident in their support for emerging composers, exemplified by their annual composition contest and initiatives like the Kurt Rohde Commission Fund. Education is a cornerstone of the ensemble's activities, with a broad-based program designed to engage and inspire the next generation of musicians and audiences alike. The ensemble's Intersection 2022 workshop is one such initiative that reflects their dedication to educational outreach. LCCE also champions new music through the commissioning of new works, ensuring the continued vitality and relevance of classical music. Their collaborations with a diverse range of artists, thinkers, and scholars further enrich their offerings, allowing them to present a variety of musical formats, from small ensemble pieces to operatic productions. The ensemble's 30th season features an array of performances, including "Sounds Divine," "Wild Music," "Opera: Tenderhooks & 4:30Movie," and "Starry Night," showcasing their versatility and commitment to innovative programming. Additionally, LCCE maintains a presence at SF Jazz and offers a comprehensive events calendar for their audience. LCCE's dedication to the arts extends to their organizational structure, which includes a leadership team, board of directors, and advisory board, all working together to guide the ensemble's artistic and educational endeavors. Supporters of LCCE can contribute through donations, sponsorship opportunities, legacy giving, and by purchasing season tickets, all of which help sustain the ensemble's mission and projects. As noted by Georgia Rowe of the San Francisco Classical Voice, LCCE's performances are characterized by a harmonious blend of standard repertoire and contemporary works, creating evenings that are both provocative and enchanting. The ensemble's ability to deliver profound musical experiences is a testament to their belief that in the realm of music, "nothing is out of bounds, and anything is possible."
