About Sun Valley Opera and Broadway Sun Valley Opera and Broadway is a non-profit arts organization established in 2001 with the primary mission to entertain, enrich, and educate audiences through opera and the vocal arts. Founded by Floyd McCracken, Frank Meyer, and Marsha Ingham, the organization was born out of a desire to bring operatic performances and classically trained voices to the residents of the Wood River Valley and its surrounding areas, who previously had limited access to such cultural experiences without extensive travel. Over the years, Sun Valley Opera and Broadway has experienced significant growth, now producing both a Winter Festival and a Summer Festival. These events are renowned for their Diva Parties & Concerts and Signature Salons, which provide intimate and personal experiences with the artists. The organization has garnered a strong base of audience and donor support, leading to consistently outstanding reviews for its performances. In 2018, the Sun Valley Opera and Broadway introduced the Impresario Society membership, an initiative designed to support the Artists Fund. This fund is essential for covering the fees and expenses of the artists, both young and established stars from the realms of Broadway and opera, who perform in the valley. Contributions to this membership play a crucial role in sustaining the organization's ability to bring high-caliber talent to the community. As part of its commitment to accessibility and educational outreach, Sun Valley Opera and Broadway partnered with Metropolitan Theatres in 2010 to bring the Metropolitan Opera HD Live satellite simulcasts directly from New York to the local Big Wood 4 Cinema in Hailey. This partnership has been strengthened by recent upgrades to the theater's system, ensuring the continuation of these live simulcast events. The organization also demonstrates its dedication to the community by offering free tickets to students and clients of the Senior Connection, as well as providing complimentary coffee and homemade breakfast breads before each screening. Sun Valley Opera and Broadway continues to thrive as a cultural beacon in the region, thanks to the vision of its founders, the dedication of its staff and board, and the generosity of its sponsors, donors, and advertising partners.
