==Idaho Falls Symphony== The '''Idaho Falls Symphony''' is a distinguished musical organization that has been a cornerstone of the cultural landscape in Idaho Falls for over seven decades. Since its inception in 1949, the Symphony has been dedicated to providing quality live orchestral experiences that enrich, educate, and entertain audiences and musicians in the region. ===Mission Statement=== The mission of the Idaho Falls Symphony Society is to offer live orchestral performances that showcase the world's great music, aiming to provide enjoyment, enrichment, and education to both audiences and musicians. This mission underscores the Symphony's commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement. ===History=== The Idaho Falls Symphony has a storied history, marked by consistent contributions to the cultural fabric of the community. The organization was initially presented by the Idaho Falls Music Club and the Community Concerts Association. In 1961, a significant transformation took place when the Idaho Falls Symphony Society was formally incorporated. The establishment of by-laws and the election of a board of directors, with Lowell Jobe as its first President, marked the beginning of a new era for the Symphony. Throughout its history, the Symphony has maintained a series of annual concerts that have brought classical music to various venues such as Freeman Park, the Colonial Theater, and the Idaho Falls Civic Center for the Performing Arts. The Symphony has become known for its partnerships with local sponsors, which have helped to foster a vibrant and nationally recognized orchestra. The Idaho Falls Symphony attracts a diverse group of musicians, including professional musicians, music educators, engineers, medical doctors, and others, all united by their dedication to the organization. The ensemble's growing reputation has drawn talent from across the Eastern Idaho region, enhancing the professional quality of the orchestra while preserving its volunteer spirit. Education and outreach are integral to the Symphony's mission. The organization reaches thousands of children each year through Children's Concerts, Family Concerts, and the Ambassador Program's in-school presentations. Additionally, the Idaho Falls Youth Symphony offers young musicians the chance to engage in orchestral performance, and Masterclasses with visiting guest artists have inspired new generations of musicians. In 2010, after a comprehensive search involving more than 130 applicants, Dr. Thomas Heuser was appointed as the Symphony's tenth Music Director. He joined a prestigious lineage of directors that includes Dr. George Adams, John LoPiccolo, Carl Eberl, LaMar Barrus, and Harold Mealy, among others. The administrative offices of the Symphony are conveniently located near the historic Willard Arts Center in downtown Idaho Falls, serving as a hub for the organization's ongoing activities and community initiatives.
