The first symphony ever written with human voices as further symphonic instruments takes us by the hand on a journey of great sonority, crowned by the magnificent Ode to Joy written by Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1803, with additional text written by Beethoven. In the 20th century, an instrumental arrangement of the chorus was adopted by the Council of Europe, and later the European Union, as the Anthem of Europe.

Day's involvement with Prince traces back to 1980 when his composition "Partyup," originally recorded when he was a member of the Enterprise, was covered on Prince's Dirty Mind album. Releasing his debut solo album, Color of Success, in 1985, Day reached his apex with his second solo album, Daydreaming, two years later. Produced by ex-Time members Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, the album included the chart-topping R&B tune "Fishnet." Day released his third solo album, Guaranteed, in 1992. After Guaranteed, Day toured on-again, off-again without any new product. He finally returned to record store racks in 2004 with It's About Time a mostly live album with a few new studio cuts, one including a guest appearance by rapper E-40. Day has appeared in such films as Prince's autobio-pic, Purple Rain, in 1984, and New Attitude in 1990.

Formed in 1977, X quickly established themselves as one of the best bands in the first wave of
LA's flourishing punk scene; becoming legendary leaders of a punk generation. Featuring
vocalist Exene Cervenka, vocalist/bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom, and drummer DJ
Bonebrake, their debut 45 was released on the seminal Dangerhouse label in 1978, followed
by seven studio albums released from 1980-1993. Over the years, the band has released
several critically acclaimed albums, topped the musical charts with regularity and performed
their iconic hits on top television shows such as Letterman and American Bandstand. X’s first
two studio albums, Los Angeles and Wild Gift are ranked by Rolling Stone among the top 500
greatest albums of all time. The band continues to tour with the original line-up fully intact. In
2017, the band celebrated their 40th year anniversary in music with a Grammy Museum exhibit
opening, a Proclamation from the City of Los Angeles and being honored at a Los Angeles
Dodgers game where Exene threw out the first pitch and John Doe sang the National Anthem.

This iconic legacy began when Nicolas’ father, Jose Reyes, formed a celebrated flamenco duo with Manitas de Plata (which boasted fans as famed as Miles Davis and Pablo Picasso). When the pair parted ways, the elder Reyes became even more popular upon starting his own band, backed by his son, called Los Reyes. In later years, Nicolas headed out on his own and began playing in the town of Arles in the south of France. He traveled throughout the country, busking on the streets of Saint-Tropez, playing wherever he could. Having adopted the perpetual motion of the gypsy lifestyle, his band eventually translated “Los Reyes” and became the Gipsy Kings.
