Actors’ Repertory Theatre of Idaho

Idaho Falls, ID, United States

The Actors' Repertory Theatre of Idaho (ARTI), established in 1986, is a non-profit volunteer-driven organization that has been committed to delivering professional quality theatre to the Southeastern Idaho community. Located in the historic downtown area of Idaho Falls, ARTI has been operating its own theatre venue, known as The Phoenix, since 2001, where it offers an intimate dinner theatre experience complete with beer and wine service. ARTI has garnered a reputation for presenting groundbreaking and award-winning theatrical productions, often hosting regional premieres of significant plays. The theatre is known for staging adult-oriented works, including notable productions like "The Vagina Monologues," "Pillowman," "Beauty Queen of Leenane," "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress," "Sordid Lives," and "The Laramie Project." Embracing the motto "For Mature Audiences Only," ARTI has established itself as a venue for thought-provoking and sophisticated entertainment. The theatre operates in the tradition of a repertory company, relying on a core group of dedicated actors, directors, set and costume designers, and other technicians. This resident company becomes a familiar presence to the audience, both on and off the stage. ARTI encourages community engagement by inviting newcomers to audition, reach out to board members, or attend productions to get acquainted with the organization. ARTI's commitment to the community extends beyond the stage. The theatre has a history of presenting shows with social significance, such as "The Laramie Project," which sparked local discussions on human rights and raised funds for various charities. ARTI's community outreach efforts include offering free final dress rehearsal viewings to students, donating tickets to charitable raffles and auctions, and providing its building for fundraising events by local organizations. In recognition of these contributions, the Idaho Falls Arts Council honored ARTI with the Outstanding Arts Organization Award in 2002. The governance of ARTI is overseen by a Board of Directors, consisting of individuals dedicated to the theatre's mission and operations, including President Nathan Olaveson, Vice President Sean Cunningham, Building Manager Jim Beck, Secretary Megan Gazda, Artistic Director Rebecca Beck, Treasurer Melanie Seneff, Media & Public Relations Director Casey Wayne, and board members Debby Soelberg and Sherry Newell. As ARTI continues to serve its community, it remains a beacon for the performing arts in Southeastern Idaho, fostering cultural enrichment and dialogue through its diverse theatrical offerings.
