### Idaho Regional Ballet (IRB) **Mission Statement** Idaho Regional Ballet (IRB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the art of dance. Its mission encompasses providing excellence in training for its company members, securing funding and support to facilitate performing opportunities that enrich both the education of its dancers and the community. The organization also aims to offer opportunities to work with invited guest teachers and choreographers. **History and Association with National and Regional Ballet Organizations** Founded with a commitment to the decentralization of dance, IRB has a notable history with the National Association of Regional Ballet (NARB) and Regional Dance America (RDA). NARB, established in 1956, played a pivotal role in the growth of regional dance companies across the United States, leading to the formation of five regions and the inclusion of over 200 companies, including more than two dozen nationally recognized professional groups. In 1988, RDA was created to continue NARB's legacy, promoting the artistic development of dance companies throughout the country. From 2010 to 2018, Idaho Regional Ballet was a proud member of RDA, consistently upholding the high standards of the Pacific Region. The Pacific Region has since parted ways with the national organization, embarking on a new trajectory in the pre-professional ballet movement. **Training and Choreography** IRB values rigorous training methods and innovative choreography, which are fundamental to the education of its dancers. The organization looks to the future, prioritizing education above all else. IRB's member Artistic Directors collaborate annually to host a Festival each spring, a tradition that has been maintained over the years. This Festival offers dancers the opportunity to participate in master classes, perform, and build new relationships. **Festival and Opportunities** The annual Festival is a cornerstone event for IRB, ensuring that scholarships to world-class ballet schools, contracts to professional companies, and acceptance to prestigious college and university dance programs remain accessible to dancers. The Festival is a celebration of the dancers' hard work and a showcase of their talent. **Summer Placement and Alumni Success** During the summer months, IRB members engage in intensive training. Some opt to train with EPAC, while others attend national programs across the United States. Auditioning, a skill that improves with practice, is encouraged for all dancers. IRB members and alumni have been associated with esteemed institutions such as the Ailey School, American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, and international companies like the Royal Danish Ballet and Staatstheater Nurnberg Ballet. **Outreach and Support** Idaho Regional Ballet continues to foster a supportive environment for its dancers and the broader community. Through performances, events, and educational initiatives, IRB invites the public to engage with the world of dance. The organization encourages support from the community to sustain and expand its mission.
