The LSU Chamber Singers is an advanced chamber ensemble that serves as the resident recital choir for graduate students in choral conducting. It is comprised of graduate students and select undergraduate students in the vocal and choral departments. Chamber Singers performs four recitals each semester that cover a wide variety of genres and time periods. Chamber Singers serves as a training choir for professional choral singing profession, as singers prepare a diverse repertory of music at a high artistic level over a shortened rehearsal period.

Utilizing the latest in video syncing technology, Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks are brought to life through his words and drawings in an unforgettable multimedia concert experience created for SATB choir, full orchestra, and video projections. Hagen designed the work so that the music serves as the foundation for the film instead of it functioning as purely a supporting musical soundtrack.

The LSU Wind Ensemble concludes their academic year with "The Music Around Us", a program celebrating works inspired by the world we inhabit. The evening opens with Gershwin’s lively Cuban Overture, followed by Lili Boulanger’s vivid and colorful D’un Matin de Printemps. Closing the first half is the world premiere of a concerto composed by LSU’s own Professor Willis Delony, blending his expertise in piano and jazz. After intermission, the program will conclude with Steven Bryant’s Concerto for Wind Ensemble, an immersive and electrifying showcase of the ensemble’s virtuosity.

When King Ouf I attempts to find someone to execute for his birthday, what ensues is a rollercoaster of humorour events, mistaken identities, and comical disguises. As astrology and comedy converge to Chabrier's effervescent and sophisticated score, let the magical world of "The Star" capture you!

The LSU Symphony Orchestra closes its season with a showcase of talented students at the School of Music.  Dean’s Concerto Competition winner, Nathan Anderson, will play Malcolm Arnold’s Flute Concerto No. 1.  Graduate conductors Kai-Chun Wong and Jarred Kennedy will lead iconic American works by Morton Gould and Aaron Copland.  The evening culminates in boisterous and joyful Symphony No. 8 in G Major by Antonin Dvorak – a fitting close to 2024-2025 LSU Symphony season.

The evening begins with the lively and spirited Lola Flores, a paso doble by Terig Tucci, followed by John Mackey's deeply reflective Sheltering Sky. The first half concludes with a vibrant suite from Leonard Bernstein's eclectic and genre-blending Mass. The program reaches its emotional culmination with David Maslanka's powerful and transcendent work, Give Us This Day.

Vermont-based violinist Joana Genova and Boyd Professor Willis Delony join to perform music from their recently-released recording, The Sonatas for Violin and Piano by Stephen Dankner. Genova and Delony are enthusiastic champions of Dankner's lush and emotionally-charged compositions. Their LSU performance will be followed by two concerts in New Orleans, where Dankner was a longtime resident and former director of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA).

Join the LSU A Cappella Choir, LSU Tiger Glee Club, and LSU Chorale for a festive and celebratory performance featuring holiday music, spirituals, and more.

A collaboration between the Experimental Music & Digital Media and Composition areas within the LSU School of Music, the Really Really New Music Marathon presents a wide variety of student-composed and produced works “hot off the press.” The marathon consists of three pre-recorded broadcasts, plus a live final performance.

Joined by guest faculty soloist Kendra Wheeler and guest artist Doreen Ketchens, the LSU Wind ensemble presents its final concert of the fall semester—“Panoramas”. The first half of this concert includes Assistant Professor of Saxophone Kendra Wheeler performing Tolga Zafer’s Karapathia. The second half of this concert begins with Warren Benson’s The Passing Bell. The captivating program includes Vincent Persichetti's Symphony No. 6 (Symphony for Band) – one of the earlier masterworks for the medium,  Jonathan Newman's evocative “…As the Scent of Spring Rain”, and other pieces with unique and intriguing soundscapes. The score made famous by Disney’s Fantasia, Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is festive and thrilling orchestral work that launches this program. Joining the LSU Symphony will be new Associate Professor of Oboe, Dr. Andrew Parker, in a rarely heard concerto gem by English composer, teacher and oboist, Ruth Gipps. The evening closes with a work rich in orchestral colors and sonorities, Borodin’s Symphony No. 2 in B minor.

The LSU Symphonic Band opens the 2024 academic year with a concert entitled “Searching for home…”—Pieces that are inspired by journeys. After opening with Yukiko Nishiumura’s Sailing!, the ensemble will perform Michael Colgrass’ mysterious Old Churches. Meechan’s Letters for Home tells a story of war and its aftermath, followed by Omar Thomas’ meditation on stillness, Forward/Still. The concert concludes with Jonathan Elkus’ transcription of Charles Ives’ Finale (from Symphony No. II).

The LSU Department of Bands and the LSU School of Music are proud to present the 42nd annual Tigerama: a musical extravaganza for all ages, featuring The Golden Band from Tigerland, LSU Wind Ensemble, LSU Symphonic Winds, Golden Girls and Colorguard.

Tigerama began as a recruiting event over three decades ago by the late Director of Bands Frank Wickes. Through his vision and fortitude, the event grew increasingly popular and became a iconic representation of some of the best music LSU has to offer. Proceeds from Tigerama go to support the LSU Tiger Marching Band and the Department of Bands in the LSU School of Music. Recently, funds raised through Tigerama, along with the efforts of other gracious donors, enabled the entire Tiger Band to perform in Dublin, Ireland at the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Yung-chiao Wei, LSU Professor of Double Bass and a renowned international soloist, will be joined by pianist Chaoi Chou for an exquisite evening of classical music. Chaoi Chou, an accomplished pianist, serves as an Assistant Professor of General Music at the Kaohslung Campus of Shih Chien University in southern Taiwan. The duo will perform works by Brahms and Beethoven.

Soprano Tony Arnold, on the Peabody and Tanglewood faculties, is the foremost American interpreter of contemporary vocal music of her generation. As a member of the International Contemporary Ensemble, Arnold has been a catalyst for groundbreaking artistic projects, among them, David Lang’s Whisper Opera. In a recital with pianist Sahun Sam Hong, she will perform a varied program featuring Wolf, Webern, and Lachenmann, along with the world premiere of Barlow Prize-commissioned cycle the color of where you can never go by LSU composer Christopher Trapani.

LSU Symphony kicks of the 2024-25 Season with thrilling opener, featuring Dean’s Concerto Competition winner, Luis Bernado Castro, performing the elegant Haydn Cello Concerto in D. The evening opens with Leonard’s Bernstein’s thrilling Overture to Candide and closes with Tchaikovsky monumental Symphony No. 5 in E minor, a real orchestral tour-de-force.

The LSU Wind Ensemble opens the 2024 academic year with a concert titled “Reinventions & Dedications”, combining pieces linked in style and inspiration. LSU Assistant Professor of Trumpet Ross Ahlhorn will join the LSU Wind Ensemble as guest soloist on Santos’ Concertino for Trompete e Banda. Following intermission, the ensemble will perform Claude Arrieu’s Dixtuor pour Instruments à Vent. This concert concludes with Donald Grantham’s Ja’i ete au Bal.
