The Possum Point Players (PPP) is a vibrant community theater organization located in Georgetown, Delaware, dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape of the region through live theatrical performances. Established with the aim of fostering a love for the arts, PPP has been a hub for local talent and theater enthusiasts for many years. Possum Point Players operates from Possum Hall, situated at 441 Old Laurel Road, which serves as the primary venue for the organization's diverse range of productions. The organization also maintains a mailing address at P.O. Box 96 in Georgetown, DE 19947. The executive administration of PPP is overseen by Dawn Conaway, who ensures the smooth operation of the organization's various initiatives. PPP is known for its engaging main stage productions, as well as its work with the Possum Juniors, a program designed to encourage and develop young performers. Additionally, the organization has expanded its offerings to include the PPP Radio Theater, which provides a platform for audio drama, and the PP Shakespeare Players, which focuses on bringing the works of William Shakespeare to life. In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, PPP presented a special event titled "All the Fixins' - A Country & Blues Jamboree," which was a fundraiser held on June 26, 2021. This spectacular evening under the stars featured a cash bar, a barbeque buffet, and a show, all conceived and directed by Doug Yetter and Donna de Kuyper. The event was hosted on Possum's new open-air stage adjacent to Possum Hall, showcasing a lineup of musical performances by local artists. Cheryl Graves served as the special event chairperson, and Michael Sprouse was the guest master of ceremonies. In addition to anniversary celebrations, PPP also presents seasonal shows, such as the "Sweet Sounds of the Season," an original holiday revue directed by Kenney Workman with musical direction by Stacey Hartman. This family-friendly production features a talented cast and celebrates the true spirit of the Christmas season with performances scheduled during the month of December. The Possum Point Players are committed to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for audiences and performers alike. They have implemented COVID-19 safety protocols, including socially distant assigned seating and mandatory face coverings when not seated, to ensure the health and safety of all involved. Ticketing for PPP events is managed through their box office, with a dedicated ticket line at 302-856-4560 and an option to order online. The organization emphasizes that seating is limited and encourages patrons to purchase tickets in advance, as they are not sold at the door.
