Clayton Community Theatre

Clayton, United States

Clayton Community Theatre (CCT) is a prominent community theatre company based in Clayton, Missouri. Established in 1998, the theatre was founded at the behest of the Clayton School District and has since become a staple for the performing arts within the local community. CCT's mission is to provide a platform for community members to engage in the creation and production of high-quality live theatre. The theatre's origins can be traced back to a group of Clayton residents who were passionate about making the performing arts more accessible through community theatre. Since its inception, CCT has put on three annual productions that have consistently garnered positive reviews and attracted full houses. The organization prides itself on its history of success and its role in demonstrating the value of a volunteer theatre company that is inclusive and dedicated to excellence. In 2006, CCT moved to its current location on the campus of Concordia Seminary in Clayton, previously the site of CBC High School. The following year, the property was acquired by Washington University in St. Louis and is now known as the Washington University South Campus. Despite the change in ownership, CCT has continued to operate as an independent entity, not affiliated with the Washington University Performing Arts Department. The theatre boasts a 210-seat venue, which is fully accessible and includes amenities such as elevators and a lighted parking lot. Clayton Community Theatre operates as a Missouri nonprofit corporation and has been granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The organization is open to anyone with an interest in theatre, and its governance is overseen by a Board of Directors. Key officers of the board include Marilyn Albert-Hack as President, Barbara Flint as Treasurer, Nieccole Hilliard as Secretary and Webmaster, and Sam Hack as Artistic Director. The board also comprises several other members who contribute to the theatre's operations and strategic direction. The theatre's motto, "Places everyone," encapsulates its ethos. This traditional stage manager's call before the curtain rises symbolizes CCT's commitment to providing opportunities for local talent to shine and for community members to participate in theatre production. CCT is a volunteer-driven organization that warmly welcomes all theatre enthusiasts to assist in its productions. Financially, CCT relies primarily on ticket sales for revenue, supplemented by program advertising, contributions, sponsorships, and grants. The theatre's dedication to community engagement and its contribution to the cultural fabric of Clayton and the surrounding areas have made it a cherished local institution.
