"Bach's Lunch" is a weekly Thursday afternoon concert series during the school year, jointly sponsored by the School of Music and the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Development (CSED). Concerts begin at 12:10 p.m. and are approximately thirty minutes in length and are held in Eisenhower Chapel - directly next door to the School of Music (or other facility as arranged).

The Symphonic Band will be presenting its first concert of the semester on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 7:30 PM, at Eisenhower Auditorium. The program will include the works Riften Wed by Julie Giroux, Mother of a Revolution by Omar Thomas, and Gloriosa by Yasuhide Ito. Please join us for a wonderful evening of music making.

Han Hitchen (b. 1997) is a composer who writes for a wide range of genres, including various acoustic and electronic settings. They are pursuing the M.M. in Composition at Penn State, where they study with Drs. Baljinder Sekhon and Sarah Genevieve Burghart Rice. This Master's recital will showcase some of the music Han has composed during his time at Penn State. There is one work that will require a content warning.

These popular concerts are brief in order to make it possible for the University community to attend during the lunch hour.

Bach's Lunch - School of Music Voice Area Noontime Concert Series: Performance Showcase

Celebrate the arrival of summer with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble in their final concert of the year titled Jubilation. Opening with Viet Cuong’s energetic and enigmatic Moth, and closing with H. Owen Reed’s La Fiesta Mexicana, the program boasts a beautiful selection of uplifting and joyous works. Joining the ensemble is 2023 Concerto Competiton winner Kathy Clarke. Kathy graduated with her MM in saxophone performance and will be returning to perform Ingolf Dahl’s Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Orchestra. The program will also include several faculty performers. Close out the academic year with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble in the Recital Hall on April 12.
